Informal poll, but how many of you prefer customizing commanders over full size government 1911's and why?

Wellll, I bought your Hoag Lwt. Commander from you years ago, so I guess my vote's in--kind of a 'money where the mouth is' vote.

I like the Commander only because it's available in a LWT configuration. Given only the choice of steel-framed guns, I'd take the full-sized over the steel Commander all day long. I like the long sight radius and recoil dampening of a full 1911, but for carry, the Lwt is more comfortable.

I sold off that one, plus an older LW Commander because they were safe-sitting too much. I can only carry guns on the "CA approved" list in my county. But the Colt 1991A1 Commander is still on the list! Just playing with the idea.

The Hoag is in 'semi-retirement'. I have a titanium CCO now, and though it's away being tweaked and refinished now, it'll be the full-time CCW when it gets back. I like the smaller frame, too, just like the consensus on the other thread mentioned.
