Take the slide off my Commander and put it on my officer's model??

I'm sure it won't work but why??

What would it take to make it work???

But would it work or would it never really feed right. Would I have to fit the slide to the frame or just put it on?

It can't be that easy!!

Thats the $64K question.

We are putting one together now. So far everything has gone together without any major problems.

This was a popular conversion in this area before Colt started making the CCO series.

you may have to fit it, if it doesn't fit. Seems most colts are liberal enough with tolerances it should fit. If it does fit I wouldn't expect the glassy fit like a true oversize or welded rail fit. If you ave doubt's any good smith should be able to fit and time it all up for you.

Will let you know when I go to the range. It all went together nice and I cant see any reason it wont run. I plan on range testing it then finishing up the cosmetics.

Then I have to decide which lightweight I will keep and which goes back in inventory. The 45 CCO or the LWT Commander in 38 S that is just behind it.

Finally got out to the range with my Officers frame and commander slide. Shot like a champ no jams and right on target.

I did notice something strange it seemed to be louder than a standard frame and the slide was hitting hard.

Why would this be?

I assume I need stronger recoil springs, what would you all suggest 22 lbs??

Just for fun, I put one together and gave it to a friend of mine to take to the range and try it out.

I wish I was there to see the look on his face when he shot it.

Did I mention that the frame was for a series '70 type Commander?
