Well today I came across a gently used 3" GP-100 that DAO and has C.I.A. stamped in the side frame. The hammer is spurless and even though there is about a 1/4" square patch on top of the hammer that is checkered, it will not cock single action. The gun has a pretty good trigger, tight cylinder endplay and has a few blemishes in the stainless finish. The front sight is pinned in and a little loose with a fixed rear sight......so what do you think and what have I got here???? Is this a special run or something????

I'll get some pictures out later this weekend.

Tex...if i remember correctly, Century Arms did just import a batch of these Rugers from France and Germany that were police guns there. I know that the French GIGN elite carried them in a 3" version in addition to their Manuhrin MR-73 revolvers too. I once owned for a short while one of the MR-73's and it was also a 3" DAO, and was an incredibly smooth and stout operator! I imagine that the CIA stamp is merely Century's import stamp. Sounds like a nice piece!

I did a little more research, and it sounds like you have a Manurhin MR-88, a revolver designed in cooperation with Ruger to replace the expensive (hand fitted) MR-73 revolvers which were very cost prohibitive to make. Apparently Manurhin specified using the barrel and other parts from the MR-73 and Ruger mated these with the Security Six frame. There is one of these for sale on Gunbroker as of last night under the Manurhin name, if you are interested in comparing them, and that one shows some very good photos of the markings (also a CAI import stamp on the frame). I hope this helps you out!--John

Thanks JR,

I did find out that my gun came from Canada, was built in 2000, and except for a few dings looks new. I like that it came with all the paperwork and the original box. It shoots a little high, at 15 yards, with 125gr. JHP's but 158gr. JHP's are dead on. I think I am really gonna like this gun, it will probably replace my 3" SP-101 as a carry weapon.

I have one I bought a couple years ago, standard hammer though. It's been banged around a little, but shoots great.

Well after several hundred rounds, I have decided this gun will be my future revolver carry weapon. I decided to spiff it up and sent it off to Marc Morganti at Gemini Customs. It should be back about the middle of July. I am very excited to see just how much better Marc can make the gun. The only option I declined was the Hybra Porting of the barrel.

Woo Hoo,

Well Marc Morganti of Gemini Customs called and my GP-100 is being sent out next Monday. I can hardly wait. He told me that evrything went well in the customization of the gun. It's the first time I have ever wanted a Monday to get here sooner than later. I'll post pics after it's return.

Well it's been raining here in this part of Texas for about 5 days now, so getting to the range for a report will be a while. In the interim here are some pics of Marc's work on my GP-100 I spoke of earlier in this thread. I am chompin' at the bit to get to the range and try her out.

He removed the billboard and C.A.I. from this side and polished the ends of the pins where they come through the frame and crane.

I love the bead blast finish and notice how he rounded and polished the trigger

Here is a picture of the hammer polished

A view of the muzzle. The package includes recrowning for accuracy

You can really see the trigger work here, and the DA pull is smooth as glass.

Very nicely done, as is expected when Marc gets his hands on a weapon! I really like the way this one turned out!
