I am considering refinishing my BHP in Matte Blue and would appreciate anyone's high quality pics of anything you might have in this finish. Thanks!

What can you guys tell me about the durability of the Matte Blue, as compared to the highly polished blue of the original BHP's? It seems I have fairly acidic sweat, and my old polished blue BHP would loose its finish if I looked at it wrong. My backstrap had a bit of the finish wear off as well as beneath the triggerguard and high on the backstrap. Will the matte Blue be the same, or can I expect better wear characteristics? Thanks also for the link, BTW.

Blue wears whether one or the other.

If you have an acid issue try another finish. Blue is not a finish for a gun that is to be used a lot and carried..

There is so much out there now that is durable to environment and use

Is this what you're looking for?
I am about to have the flats polished and reblued.

I'm kinda partial to these two, which are both matte blue. The slide stop on both and the thumb safety on the commander are kinda blurple, though.

This one was matte blue for a while but I got tired of having to reblue it every few years, so it's been hard chromed for the past few years. FWIW, I much prefer the looks of a blue gun to a silver one:

Visit http://www.conditionone.us and look at the Colt Combat Commander under the pics tab. Dave built this for me and finished it in a flat blue. I believe the blueing was Brownell's Oxynate 7 finish, or something like that. I absolutely love this "all business" finish!
