Anyone have any thoughts on these?

Kicks butt bigtime!

I replace all my Novak rears with this as it gives the good, uncluttered Heinie sight picture instead of the way-too-busy Novak sight picture.

I really can't praise it enough.

Just my opinion, but I think the YoBo Professional rear sight is about the best you can get. Clean, crisp sight picture, machined from bar stock, available for the Novak cut and less expensive than the SMD.

In addition, you get the ability to rack the slide one-handed by using the rear sight against a table, door edge, shield, belt, etc.

I've used several and have liked them. I've found the notch a little narrow and short for my tastes and always opened them up.

I'm with Gary. I prefer the YoBo sight and just arranged to have 3 more put on various 1911's of mine.

I'm a fan as well, have the YoBo rear sight on three of my 1911s. I have a spare that I'm doing some fine melting of the front corners and edges of to make it a little more racking-hand-friendly without compromising the ability to run the gun one-handed by hooking the rear sight on something. Other than that, for my purposes and aging eyes, it's about perfect.

Not to be a stick in the mud but the original poster asked for input on SDM's rear sight not YoBo's.

We all know Ted and crew makes really nice stuff, but that rear sight isn't for everyone, myself included. I too would like to know what people think of Scott's sight. There are plenty of threads on the merits of Ted's sights for those looking for an opinion on them.

I haven't tried any, but now that I've seen them on the web page, I'll have to correct that oversight. (No pun intended.)

Pete R,

You are correct, sir, and I apologize for posting off topic.

Since I have no direct experience with the SDM sight I should have said nothing or started my post with "Have you considered this" ....

My intention was to show an alternative that (a) fits the Novak cut, (b) has a similar sight picture, (c) has an added feature and (d) is less expensive, as the poster may not be aware of the YoBo sight.

You're not a stick-in-the-mud ...

Thoughts: (had to google to see what they were)

They look good from a sight picture point of view, but have the same issue Novak sights have. Not easy to catch and rack on stuff.

Most people are going away from this style for this reason and is probably why a few members were trying to steer you to something that is an evolution above the sight you mentioned, IMO.

I have YoBo sights coming on a couple guns already.
YoBo makes GREAT stuff no doubt about it but I like to check out various products.

What about Hilton Yam's 10-8 Sights?

Anyone use those?

How did they compare to the YoBo sights?

The 10-8 sight and the YoBo Professional are very similar.

Both are made from bar stock.

The 10-8 sight has a .125" U notch and 40 lpi serrations.
The YoBo sight has a .140" Square notch and 50 lpi serrations.

Either one would be a good choice, IMHO.

My old eyes favor the wider notch so the YoBo gets my vote.

:)
