For over a year now we’ve been offering the double diamond micarta stocks as made for us by our friend John VanZyck at VZ Grips. The response to the grips has been phenomenal and they’ve come to be a staple on every 1* pistol that leaves the shop. To say these grips are good would be understating things a bit... they’ve certainly filled a need in the grip market.

But, after two sets of the stocks cut from maroon micarta were featured here on a couple of stainless Colts I received numerous requests for the color. The idea was something Steve Bailey and I thought would be a good throw back to the maroon micarta originally seen on the Devel guns and initially we only had a small run done for our personal builds.

But our friend John VanZyck has come through once again and, in addition to black, green and red, the double diamond micarta stocks are now available in the solid maroon color.

They came on a *1 I recently had built for my dad, and were a pleasant suprise. I had forgot that the *1's were now coming with the VZ's. I'm really happy that the guys at Yost decided to put the maroon color grips on my dads *1 - they look oustanding with the matte rounds and polished flats of the gun. They are simply some of the finest 1911 grips to date that I have come in contact with.

nice looking grips, they would probably look good against matte black as well-cam

Maroons are kewl....I especially like them on a white gun. However, as the poster earlier said they would look fine on a blued gun.
