Sometime last year Ted dug out a 9mm Series 80 Colt Commander that I had got for him a year or so earlier to use as a “spare time” project. After retrieving the gun from his hide he waved the un-modified piece under my nose snickering something like “this one’s gonna’ be a ten... millimeter ”.

My interest immediately perked and over the next few weeks I watched as Ted whittled away on the gun during the nights and weekends that he and I spend working after hours in the shop. After a while the gun started coming together and it wasn't long until the next thing I knew we were at the range wringing this bad-boy out... the gun was a blast to say the least and not long after completion it was on its way to a new home. Our pal Steve was kind enough to post pictures of the gun and the next thing we knew we were looking for base guns to do a few more of these conversions as time allowed... but, in addition to finding the time, the trouble is in finding the base guns, as it is optimal to find one without a caliber designation on the slide making these a bit more rare than most 9mm Colt Commanders.

But being as how I’m a rather resourceful bloke I was able to find a fairly minty example just waiting for someone to make this gun all that it can be. And after another long stretch of after hours whittling, filling, grinding, and a bit of breech-face “adjustment” one more Yost Custom 10mm Colt Commander has rolled out the door to a freind and very happy owner. 8)

Enjoy the pictures... :D

I have seen just a few of Ted's guns and never tire of the classic style, absolute consistent execution and attention to detail. Only a few smiths do it, I think hand made stocks on a gun like this really set the aesthetics off.

THAT is just slicker than snail snot!!!!!!

Hey Colt!!! Get a clue!!!! Instead of the damn El Blingo 'limited productions runs', how about some REAL guns in limited production????? Okay, I know you guys aren't too bright when it comes to guns because most of you NEVER owned (and probably don't now) a gun so let me help you, I'll even provide SKU #s since you don't know what I would be talking about:
-Delta Elite 10mm....SKU #Idon'tlikegunsbutthispaysbetterthansellingplumbingsupplies,slightly.
-Delta Commander 10mm....SKU #IlikefreetripstothatSHOTshowbutIhateitwhenthosewhackoRedneckgunweirdosaskemequestionsaboutgunsanduseoldmodelnames.
-Gov't Model with light rail (you know, the one ALL your competitors make and market)....SKU #Ishouldprobablylernsomethingaboutgunsbut...ohcrapherecomestheGeneralIbetteractbusy.
Let me know if I can be of further help.

Wow. The attention to detail, like usual, is simply fabulous. I love the attention to the heel/mainspring area. Beautiful as usual. Outstanding work Ted.

I love 10mm guns from Yo-Bo!. Do I detect that the arrow serrations on the slide top have a slightly curvaceous ending? It looks sweet! Nice subtle mod on an already cool mod.
