Not long before SHOT Show 2007 I posted a few photos that previewed the pairs Ted and I were taking to the show. Since then things have been a bit busy in our world so it wasn’t until just recently that I had the chance to take some good photographs of the stainless Colt Government Models that Ted built.

The photos turned out pretty well but they simply don’t do these guns justice especially considering that these are two consecutive serial numbered guns constructed as a true matched pair and cased with all the tools (also made by Ted) that one would need for their upkeep. Built to perfection this is an elegant pair of Signature Grade Colts matched right down to the same number of checkering rows on each front and back strap. Details galore and flawless execution keep me in check and are a constant reminder of just how the guns are supposed to look when they’re done right!

Enjoy the pictures! :D

That is the closest piece of work to a pair of H&H "Royals" I have ever seen. The detail work is amazing. The stocks are just gorgeous.

I am wracking my head trying to figure out how one nitre blues only the pin pieces of components. Were the whole parts blued and the bluing polished off where it was not needed? If so, what protects the base metal? Are the parts chromed and the chromed removed so the pin sections could be blued? Then how could the parts match the stainless?

The Purdey of Pistols! The only things missing are the engraved, gold inlaid '1' and '2' on the rear! Oh, and of course my gunsafe enclosing them!!!!! :D

Not a surprising comparison. What a lot of folks may not know is that Ted also has a background in fine English doubles.

Now that explains a lot. As one of my test-fire crew has remarked before; "The only thing wrong with those guns is that they don't belong to me."

Sometimes one must break his silence when moved by the presence of greatness. Such is this work! Total quality throughout and simple grand elegance! Those of us who build these types of weapons, should aspire to this degree of quality and excellence.

Nice pair, Ted.
I've never said that to another man, so you can tell that I'm...moved.

The connection to fine doubles is evident, especially with the accompanying "turnscrews". I can see that a double fanatic- someone who would never touch a "magazine rifle", let alone care about most pistols- couldn't help but want a set like this.

I believe very, very few folks that are not full-time gunsmiths can fully appreciate this work.
The flawless metal work, the perfect grips and the overall attention to detail is truly stunning.
Certainly it takes talent of the highest caliber and years of experience to create such a masterpiece.
It also takes huge amounts of grueling hand work while peering through magnifiers.
Building a perfectly matched pair like these is far more difficult than building two 'similar' guns.
The finely fitted case and the dedicated hand tools are equally impressive.
This is definitely some of the finest craftsmanship I have ever seen.
:D

Jason...

This is one of the most beuatiful pairs of 1911s I have ever seen. I can only aspire to have a brace of pistols that are even half this nice some day. Thanks for the awesome pics and keep up the great work! :D

One distinct advantage to being in this business, I get to see some of the finest works in person. I am at a loss I did not get to see this one.

What a pair. Again, to be commended.
