Last year I had the pleasure of writing an article on custom Hi Powers for Harris. At one time, I had a full custom from Cylinder & Slide, a SRT from Yo-Bo, and one from Karl Sokol.

Having shot 1911's for so long, I forgot how great P-35's shoot, especially when they have been touched by these three masters.

Leather by Josh and Tony made the package. If you have not read the series by Marcus Wynne, you are missing out.

Enjoy,

Rob,
I have two HiPowers built by Karl - a blue FN 9mm and a Browning .40 Practical . Both are great guns. Karl has done a number of 1911's and revolvers for me as well. He is a great gunsmith and a pleasure to deal with.

Beauties, was there a difference in the feel shooting them?

I remember that article. I bought the magazine just for it. I think it's the one where a picture showing the backstrap treatment was captioned in the wrong order.

Do you still have all three?

Yes, they are nice to shoot, especially when touched by the masters. As they come, HiPowers are almost there. A little work from the right craftsman finishes the job.
As far as I'm concerned, BHPs are in a class of their own. Big enough to handle well, and enough smaller than a 1911 to be worth bothering with.

Will you guys please stop?
I already have enough trouble with my 1911 addiction!
Now here you go trying to get me onto a new addiction with these great pics!

Nice pics!
Thanks for sharing!

I have the pleasure of owning the Yost Hi-Power in that article. It continues to be a wonderful shooter. The Sokol Hi-Power pictured is Karl's personal gun. When he built me a Hi-Power last year, he took those very grips off of his gun and gave them to me on mine.

Both are fine Hi-Powers by any standard. Thanks for posting the pictures Rob!

Here is the photo from the article showing the three different backstrap stippling patterns.
Left to Right
Cylinder & Slide
Karl Sokol
Yo-Bo

All three went back to their respective shops. However, I had a clean Hi Power stashed in the vault and Uncle Ted built me an SRT like the one in the article. I had to sell a couple of things but it was worth it!

Thanks Ted & Jason!

Very nice...and I too bought that magazine for that article alone! Hey Jeremy....you need some pics of my C&S Pathfinder??? Since you've been taunting me with pics of all your goodies, it's the least I can do to return the favor! Besides...it would be a perfect weapon for you...it's a Hi-Power, a custom, and it's cut down..perfect sized for a "Combat Leprechan" :P :P
