I'm a police officer in a medium size department in the SF Bay Area. I decided a couple years ago that it was finally time to have MY ultimate 1911.

I started searching for someone to build this gun for me and after lurking on this forum, others and talking to lots of folks, I decided I wanted Don Williams to build it for me. I sent him a Colt 1991A1 that I purchased new back in 1999, gave him a list of parts I would like and let him do the rest. After about a year and half of waiting, this is what I got back:

I can't even begin to tell anyone how happy I am with this gun and what a pleasure it was to work with Don. He even gave a few followup calls after I got the gun back to make sure everything was working. I've got a Hi Power that's going to head his way as soon as finance affords.

I currently carry a Glock 21, but my department may begin to approve 1911's in the next few months. I can't wait to have this gun ride in my holster at work!

In a word...Stunning!!!

I Love the Mainspring Housing! One more thing on an already too long list of Must Haves!

It's a tackdriver. While I'm not out measuring with calipers or anything, I can tell you that I have no problem knocking down steel plates at 50 yards.

That's a beaut! I was only able to "officially" carry a 1911 early in my LE career, but I always had one near. 8)

Don sure can fit a beavertail, can't he? That's a great-looking gun- definitely one I'd feel comfortable carrying on duty.

Don always comes through with stunning work. Is that a matte blue finish or a different solution?

I placed it VERY CAREFULLY on a stepping stone. It is a matte blue finish.

Looks like a perfect carry gun! How does the stock Colt barrel perform? I've always had pretty good luck with them.

I don't think that I would have a problem with holstering this pistol. Don's guns work like they are supposed to.
