I am hoping one of the many knowledgeable people on here can answer a question about my new Combat Commander and end a two week 'Discussion' between me and my shooting buddy. I have always been under the impression that the raised rib on top of the slide of the enhanced model Colts cannot (or should not) be milled off because it would make the slide too thin, but he is Sure he has been told that it can be done. Which is the correct info? As always, Thanks!

Tommy, Actually the rib is a vestige of the normal round top milling of the slide. I've measured the thickness of these, and found that the slide is equally thick at the muzzle whether it's a conventional round top or with a rib. Many of the "Enhanced" slides have been converted into round top configuration. Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info Mr. Williams! I actually Like the raised rib on mine. It is one of the things that draw me to the Enhanced guns. I Would like to have it Serrated, but that will have to wait until I can afford to have it done up the way I want.
