Just bought this one off one of the forums. Anyone have any suggestions on sights. I cant stand those godawful Milletts. The gun was customized by Austin Behlert (he confirmed this via email) and someone later put the Milletts on it. I would like to go with a lower profile Novak, Heinie or similar without milling. May have to rework the front sight. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I saw the ad and wondered how it looked. Thanks for sharing the pics, very nice BTW. I'll leave it to the experts on this forum to suggest sights, just wanted to acknowledge a fine shooter....

More pics of the BHP. I cant wait to get it and play with it a bit.

The text is too little to read but it is the email from Austin Behlert saying that he did the work. But not the sights!!

That gun cries out, no, it screams, no-- it demands to be put back the way Mr. Behlert shippted it. Might be tough as I usppose the front sight is one of those double-peg staked on jobs....?

Did he indicate what the original sights might have been? guess they weren't S&W or the cuts'd be there.

I'm hopeful that Mr. Behlert will soon be dropping by LTW. We have a very special, customized LTW Stratolounger waiting for him!

I would love to put it back the way it left Behlerts!! He said in the email that the finger groove and stipling were his but that "the rear sight isnt one I used usually." I will email him and invite him to LTW. I met him online when I purchased a 1960 NM with his handiwork. Someone directed me to pistolsmith.com where I made contact.

Since I assume it isnt cut for S&W k's what would you suggest to put it in a retro style? I am afraid it probably has the Millett double stake abortion.... I mean front sight.

I sent Mr. Behlert another thank you and an invitation to LTW.

I also want to thank everyone for the priviledge of being a member and being able to correspond with the masters. As a retired LEO I always dreamed of having a piece done by Behlert, Swenson, Loveless, or Day. I still have my copy of "GUN DIGEST BOOK OF PISTOLSMITHING" by Jack Mitchell. Maybe now I will have a Yost, Berryhill, Novak, Chen, Christiansen, etc etc!!!!!!!

gary*, maybe between us we can get Mr. B to visit.

You know, if you think that perhaps the gun has be replated since it left his shop, maybe there'd be no further sacrilege in welding up the front sight holes and putting whatever sights on it he says it would have had originally.

Or, on the other hand, maybe at this point-- it would not be so wrong to put something else on it that pleases you, it's your gun after all. I just keep thinking it would be more proper, and the gun maybe more valuable, if it was put back to "as was".

Decisions decisions...... I received an email from Mr. Behlert. He advised that he used S&W's and later Bo-mars. He also advised that you had invited him over and he was looking forward to checking LTW out.

Back to the BHP my instinct is to put Novaks or similar and rework the front. Then when my pocket book recovers put S&W's on it. Estimates anyone!!!!

Mr Behlert has a revolver sight that was made for S&W revolvers. I wanted to buy some from him. I wonder if he ever got around to his attic. My father had him put on several revolvers. Maybe you could convince Mr Behlert to sell you one.

From the customized BHP's that have passed through my little retail operation. I would guess about 70 or so in the past 8 years

There seem to be more of the Novak style installed. I get quite a few of the Heinie style sights as this design is picking up in popularity. I think the main reason on a few less of the Heinie style is there is a bit more machining on this design that the Novak design.

Other than that there are very few others, maybe 5 total.

I hope that helps.
