Anyone who knows me personally would say I can be pretty verbose. As a result, I'm just gonna let these pics speak for Nate's work:

I only placed this order two weeks ago. YES 2 WEEKS! Sent an email to Nate a few weeks before asking him about prices and features etc. When Nate's return email kept getting bounced back to him, he called me for specifics, and was not only informative and courteous, but very willing to accomodate my whims. He told me what he had, I told him what I wanted. Placed the order a few weeks later, paid through paypal, and here I am just a few weeks after that with this fine piece of craftsmanship.

I am HIGHLY impressed by Nate's work. I already wore the holster out and about for a few hous and it is very comfortable at the 3-3:30 position. The snaps on his loops are VERY difficult (as good snaps should be), and the leather is beautiful but rigid. When this thing breaks in it will be VERY nice. (As you can tell, I love good quality leatherwork.)

As for price...I am NOT gonna say, as I think Nate could charge MUCH more for his work. I bet that within a year or two, he'll be as backed up as Eric Larsen, Milt Sparks and many of the other reputable holster makers. great looking holsters and a fine endorsement as well. i'm suprised he was able to provide leather for the relatively new EMP, as well as a rail gun. nate sounds on top of his craft.-cam

Ah, I should have clarified: the EMP holster was made by Eric Larsen of HBE Leatherworks. It is a very good holster. The Kimber's clothing is the UBG holster. I was simply hoping to get something comparable to the HBE holster, and I am quite satisfied. Both Eric and Nate do very good work.

Nice holster but the question is, who made the bag?

Yeah. I have to be honest. I really wasn't expecting what was in that box when I opened it. I am VERY happy that I decided to go with Nate, and as a result, I believe another buddy of mine is ordering one in a few days. My buddy is usually a Sparks guy. Has a VMII for pretty much every pistol he owns, but he's real impressed with Nate's work and wants to give him a try for his Pro TLE/RLII. After getting my holster I'm pretty sure my buddy'll be satisfied.

Jason, that is a very nice rig! Your post has inspired a double Canute order just placed online for both my wife and I. Nate is very friendly through e-mail, not to mention very fast with replies! Going with an exotic combo also... Will post pics when the rigs are completed and arrive here in the Wild Wild West.

Good to hear. I hope you and your wife are as satisfied as I am. I'm actually waiting to hear from Nate about making me a 2nd one with a more extreme can't because I forgot to mention it originally. I really hope the next one looks something like my first because I think it's beautiful. I'm also hoping to get some custom double mag pouches as well.

If you speak to Nate again, mention that you saw his work on here. I don't know if he's a member of this forum, but I think he should be.

I agree, Nate should and most likely will become a figure here. I forwarded one of the pictures you posted here to Nate when I inquired about the Canute. I love the shark/iguana combination.

I agree. I was thrilled with it. I think I remember him telling me he hadn't tried that combination before, but man did it come out well. I'm hoping to hear from Nate momentarily about this other order. I have a buddy who had ordered a Comp-Tac for his Kimber Pro TLE/RLII and he didn't feel it really worked for him, so he's going to be ordering from Nate as well. This guy owns like four (4) VMII's for different guns, but he was VERY impressed with Nate's work, so he's gnna give it a try. I think that says a lot.

Jason, I hate to do it, but I have to ask... what size is this bag in the photo?... The wife and I were wondering... We both use Acer 15" laptops and the proportions of this bag look like they'd fit very nicely!

By the way, I heard from Nate at UBG today... The his/hers Canute's are on their way across the border! Will be posting pictures very soon. We went with a black/brown - shark/leather combination... You HAVE to wonder how OUR holsters would look sitting beside a bag "similar" to yours...

The bag is 16" wide, about 12" high and 9" deep. It would fit your 15" laptop nicely, not to mention a file folio or two and whatever else you'd need to carry. I'm very impressed with the bag. Been carrying it for a little under 2 months now, and it's just tough, as well as being beautiful.

I'm very interested in seeing your holsters when you get them. Please post pics asap. Good luck, and make sure you check out http://www.saddlebackleather.com. Definitely go to ebay to purchase and not his web site. I just scored a large Saddleback in dark coffee brown on ebay for a steal at $410. If you watch the auctions wisely I think you can get a great deal also.

I ended up in a bidding war during the last few minutes of my auction and the price went from 410$ to 510$. I think I paid right at retail price, but it wasn't for lack of trying. If you got the 16" for 410$ that's a FANTASTIC price. You're going to be very happy. My experience with Dave was good, and shipping was excellent. I had my bag like 3-4 days after I paid.

In my old age, I have found that quality trumps price every time. If I can't afford quality, I wait until I can.

That in mind, nice holsters, and when I need or desire another quality holster, I'll check Nate's web site.

I have been looking for a leather replacement briefcase and checked out the saddlebackleather web site. Thanks for the heads-up - Ahh Quality. I ordered a briefcase and messenger bag and now have a pleasant dialog with Dave - the owner. The relationship between me and Dave is more important to me than any monetary savings I would gain on ebay.

That's why I'm on this site and waiting on the list of an LTW gunsmith. Quality trumps price, every time.

I'm not too old yet, but I've learned that lesson. My good friend Ben says, "buy the best you can afford to buy, because otherwise you end up paying for it more than once anyway." My wife's grandfather had a similar philosophy, though his proverb was in spanish.

Interestingly enough--and this is probably gonna burn some of the people on here--that doesn't always work out with guns. I have recently sold the Canute (and gun) in this post because the Kimber Pro TLE/RLII I paid a grand for--and had the holster made to fit--hadn't convinced me when it came to reliability.

At this point in my life, I'm not a gun collector. I own weapons for defensive purposes only, and while I love the look, feel and power of the 1911 platform, I don't want to have to work as hard to keep my guns running smoothly as my Kimber necessitated. I'm not conviced by Kimber's QA, and there are WAY too many magazine choices out there to hafta spend dollar after dollar to figure out which one feeds my gun best.

So...after avoiding it for as long as I could because of the awful ergonomics, and trying other options first, I've moved to a Glock 21sf (in .45) for HD and a 19 (9mm) for carry. The only 1911 style gun I have any longer is my EMP because it is such a sweet shooter, my wife is reasonably comfy with it, and because my father loves it.

It's a shame, though, because the Kimber was a beautiful piece of work, as was Nate's holster. But I'll get my museum pieces later. Right now I need no-hassle fighting guns. It's not a knock against 1911's, just an acknowledgement that at this time I'm not ready for them.

I hope those of you who have contacted Dave about bags are as satisfied with yours as I am with mine. Dave's a good example of what business owners should be like, and I'm glad to help him out by publicizing his great products.

I'm retired now, but when I was working the streets we started with the S&W 19. Ten years later we transitioned into the Glock 19. I refused and bought myself a couple of Sig's (226 for duty and later, a 228 for off duty). They wouldn't let us carry a Single Action Semi-Auto - cocked and locked wasn't politically correct...

A 1911 was always at home for weekend playtime at the range.

I think of Colt 1911s, like old Harley's. You buy them only to take them apart and fix them to make them right. Once right - They're Sweet.

Once retired, I sold the Sigs, bought a couple of Kimbers, discovered MIM, had a couple of the Kimbers MIM parts replaced and sold the others. Since then I have gone with Wilson and Les Baer and now have three Colts in the safe waiting on the Harrison Design list.

The 1911 platform, with thin grips and short trigger, allow my arthritic gun hand to grip the gun correctly. Even the Sig 220 puts pressure on the wrong parts of the wrist.

I figure I'm spending my kid's inheritance - Though the perfected 1911s will be more valuable in a lot of ways, than mere money.
