Hello all, I have been visiting this sight and admiring the work from all of the incredible gunsmiths for a long time. Now that my Gemini Customs full house 1911 by Marc Morganti finally came home I thought I would share. This project has been a little over two years in the making. It took me a year to research and gather all of the parts and pieces as I did it one piece at a time due to some budgetary constraints (Thank God for L.E. discounts from Caspian and Brownell's). It took another year for Marc to wave his magic wand and turn a box o' parts into what is for me the perfect carry/defense pistol with a few added touches to catch the eye. The one thing I knew when I started out was that I wanted to keep it somewhat simple but have some truly unique touches as well, specifically when it came to the front strap and MSH treatments. Marc and I sat down and went over some Ideas and we finally came up with what I believe to be a truly one of a kind treatment. According to Marc as far as he is concerned it will remain that way until he gets a CNC machine as he had to do each cut by hand with a 1/8 inch end mill and a rotary table. The rest of the work/parts are as follows:

Caspian Stainless Steel frame and slide
Schuemann Ultimatch bull barrel
Cylinder and Slide ignition parts
Greider trigger
Ed Brown grip safety
Welded on mag-well
Cut and recrown barrel
Flute barrel, barrel hood, and guide rod
Textured frontstrap and MSH
Heine sight cuts
Heine slant pro sights with tritium insert in front sight
Light de-horn and carry bevel
Hard Chrome by Tripp's research
Ahrend's grips in Macassar Ebony

Obviously this is not a complete list but you get the picture. Speaking of pictures I guess this is where I should put them. Please excuse my photography skills, I do know my limitations. Ichiro has nothing to worry about.

Here is the front strap treatment we came up with:

I couldn't wait to get it to the range, and it shot better than it looked. Definatley a better shooter than I am. I am still waiting for my QRH holster from Bulman Gunleather in Mahogany with black shark trim.
Marc was a great guy to deal with a class act all the way. I couldn't be happier with his work and meticulous attention to detail. It doesn't hurt that he only lives about 20 mins from me. Hope you all enjoy the post.

Oh my. That gun is really hot. I really like that grip treatment. Marc Morganti is quickly moving up my list of smiths to build a gun with.

That's really slick. Lots of cool stuff, and Marc's work is amazing in every example I have seen.

The grip treatment is awesome, doesn't bite or snag, but gives all the grip you could ask for. I put about 400 rounds down range the first day and it never got uncomfortable to shoot.

I second that. Marc is a super nice guy so it's really hard to hate his guts for coming up with that pattern (as in, "wish I'd thought of that").

That pattern really shouts "2045" or so to me-- very futuristic looking but I can see it's equally functional.

Hello Everyone;

I had Marc do a full blown custom Colt Commander with ivory grips alls/s gun with high polised slide flats in 38 super and a 9mm conversion bbl.

This is by far my favorite 1911 that I own and the prettiest and it shoots awesome, I also had marc build me one of his Ruger SP 101s with the nightstalker grips, that is a real neat and great shooting pistol also.

Marc has been a graet person to deal with and has some very good ideas of what works and what does not work when building a custom 1911.

Another gorgeous work of art by Marc. I simply love my GP-100 that he transformed from a good utilitarian gun into a fantastic self defense weapon.

Marc does first class work. I've got an SP101 that he built for me a couple of years ago. He's a great guy to deal with!
