For some it means one thing and for others something totally different but either way the gun pictured here seems the perfect blend of what
anyone could ask for in a long-term 1911.
Classic beauty, tradition, durability, and usability are all apt ways to describe this pistol but the gun is also a fitting example of rarity perfected. It’s not often that we come across one of these base guns, an AMU Colt Commercial, and it’s even more rare that we get to do a conversion on one... but this one got the full Ted Yost Signature Grade treatment.
From the flattened and serrated slide top and hand-cut 30lpi checkering, to the perfectly straightened frame and slide lines and classic Yost round-butt conversion it sometimes seems to me that these AMU Commercials were destined from birth to be customs. And as one would expect this gun got all the parts, pieces, and details you’d expect from a Yost Signature Grade... Kart barrel, Wilson beavertail, Ed Brown thumb safety and slide stop, hand-beveled mag-well, serrated rear of the slide, polished blue finish with nitre accents, all best quality internals, gold line front sight, and of course hand made English Walnut stocks.
Pictured with a few tools of our trade, it’s hard to argue that this gun, classily styled and built to last, wouldn’t stand out and excel in any role... even if it does have that so called archaic and “fragile†finish of yesteryear.

Enjoy...
