earlier this year I picked up a well used Colt 1903 Hammerless (type III circa 1917). It looked like it could use a good home, and for the price I just couldn't leave her on the shelf.

I've read they're great shooters, and well they look flat out cool. I figured its size might lend nicely to my kids smaller hands when it comes time to introduce them to shooting too.

A few months back I sent her off to Dave Sams for a bit of freshening up. I asked that he clean up the rust/pitting as much as possible and give me a set of sights I could actually use yet look liked they belonged - I think he delivered ;)

pardon the lint, oil, & fingerprints in the pics :o

Any idea where I can round up a holster for this old girl?

thanks all!

JRM - thanks for checking. I saw an IWB for the 1903 on Mark Garrity's website gallery and emailed him about availability - haven't heard back from him yet :)

I really like that gun. It turned out great. I know just how good Dave is about cleaning up an abused gun. He's done a few for me that nobody else wanted to touch or even said couldn't be feasibly done. Just like he did for you, Dave delivered.

Great piece. Enjoy it.

That looks great. I think you and Mr Sams made the most out of it.
I also think you have a good idea for a kid teaching gun, and have me thinking about it.

El Paso Saddlery used to make some nifty holsters for these. Maybe they still do. http://www.epsaddlery.com

Very nice. I always liked those and I would think they could stillbe a viable carry gun at least in .380. Nice work by Dave!

I´m sure i still have a holster for that beauty somewhere in my shop  .

I made one for my self but had no luck while looking for a gun like this in 380 as an original, I found three of them in 32 an two were already ruined after some one try ed to convert it and the 32 at $100 has been nickel chromed so I reject it too.

I remember this guns to shoot great with a point shooting and since they are super flat i found it to be extremely comfortable for long term carry

Alex.

I'm interested should you stumble across that little holster Alex :)

Speaking of relative sizes, I took this pic last night of the 1903 with my Agent and 9mm Commander. I didn't get a pic showing the width, but you're right, the 1903 is thin

in addition to bob's, you can try Jack First and Numrich.

original checkered wood grips w/medallions seem to be unobtanium though, I've been looking for a pair of those for quite a while with no luck...

That is a sweet 1903!!! I've had 1 or 2 over the years, should have kept one, oh well can't keep them all!!! Could someone please post Dave Sams email or phone number. I recently bought a 1952 production GM that could use a similar freshening up.
