After much poking, prodding, and a short kick in the pants by my partner Theo I finally finished the photos for our contribution to this years LTW SHOT Show display.

For our pistols this year we did some of the old, some of the traditional, as well as a good dose of some new. So without further ado I’ll let the pictures roll and try to keep the prose to a minimum... enjoy! :D

I’ll start with the old...

The Twenty Paces set that was a 2007 collaboration between Ted and I...

… also in tow will be Ted’s 2007 Signature Grade pair of Colt Government Models…

Image

Next up is the traditional...

I’ll be showing a Two-Tone Colt Government Model that I completed earlier this year…

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

... and the Damascus Government Model I built for AH along with the Bowie from Kirk Rexroat and holsters from John Ralston at 5 Shot...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Ted will continue his tradition of LW Signature Grade guns with a pair of sorts... not matched but more like two brothers...

First is the LW CCO in .45ACP...

... and its “brother” a LW Commander in 10mm... yes 10mm

Now for the new...

As mentioned in an earlier thread, this year five LTW ‘smiths did a ‘collaboration’ of sorts. Ted, C.T., Ned, John, and myself were each given one of a consecutively serial numbered set of five stainless Series 70 Colt Gov’t Models to customize as we saw fit. Ted and I rambled back and forth about how and what we would do to ours and in the end we each went in opposite directions while still following the same path... if that makes any sense.

For my gun I wanted to do something a bit different that what people normally see from our shop. So instead of our standard polished and overall classic rendition of a fighting gun I went with an all blasted finish to help soften the hand-cut 20lpi checkering that I tried to make as brutally sharp as possible. Of course like every other gun from our shop this piece got a full detailing of every aspect to include line straightening, flattened and serrated slide top, bordered slide, serrated rear of slide, weld-up frame and slide fit, Kart barrel with EGW bushing, Wilson ambi-safety, S&A grip safety, best quality trigger job, hand beveled mag-well, and more.

As I said above Ted and I went in opposite directions while following similar paths... we both built a complete custom conversion with nothing left unaddressed and above all else a pistol constructed for a lifetime and a half of use. The “opposite” part comes in the execution, and while it would be easy for Ted at this point in his career to rest on his previous accomplishments he was determined to set a new standard for himself and with Ted’s contribution to this quintet he in turn set a new standard for our shop.

While both Ted and I built what we mutually consider excellent pistols for any arena ‘ol Theo certainly raised the bar. Pictured with the elegant and durable leather work of Alex Nossar, what you see below is the new standard of working gun from Heirloom Precision, engraving by J.R. French.

Last but in no way least is a project that has been two years in the making... a matched pair of cased Colt Commercial Government Models complete with matching tools and engraving once again by J.R. French. While I could write a book about these guns it would never compare to the words the pictures can say... so I’ll let them...

Wow! Nice pics,JB.

Now...Aren't you glad I asked nice and polite?

It just occurred to me that the ironwood blanks you used for props last year became the grip panels for this year's LW's  Guess the old guy still has a little eye for the details

Beautiful work by all! Is it true Jason that you'll be putting Ted on the payroll as an employee next year?

Wow. That is a bit much. I think it is going to take a few different viewings to really take it all in. Phenomenal pistols!!! Those LW CCOs always steal my heart away! And now available in the wholesome 10mm variety!

Bravo!!!

What can be said about those fine pistols. From the CCO to the engraved Stainless series 70 nothing can compare in my opinion. JR does some nice engraving and I have admired his work for a few years now. That engraved series 70 stainless confirms my desire to build on the stainless 70 I have and then get it engraved. Nice work gentlemen and yes you have raised the bar.

Uh, yeah - what they all said...

Amazing, unbelievable, spectacular - these words don't even begin to describe adequately. Oh, I wish I could see them in person at SHOT...

Well done!

Trust me fellas....that stainless engraved gun of Ted's is the finest 1911 I have seen. From his build, which is unreal to JR's engraving that one just seems to hit all the notes. If any of you hit Shot, you should make it a point to come over and take a look.

Maybe a dumb question, but "FRB III" stands for?

So many beautiful pistols. The SHOT show attendees will get a treat. Now let's see the pistols from the rest of the LTW crew. :)

Oh my! You gentlemen, have clearly outdone yourselves and separated your craft from that of the masses. Whether no nonsense fighting .45, a classy edc, or an engraved heirloom piece, there are simply no finer 1911s on the planet IMHO. Congratulations.

That's truly phenomenal work. "Elegant" doesn't seem to cut it when searching for an appropriate adjective.

Oh
My
God

It got better as it went on. I thought it peaked at the LW Cmdr 10mm, but it just kept going.
My neck hurts from craning over for a closer look. But it's a good hurt.

Jason & Ted -

Simply beautiful gentlemen. Congratulations on a series of phenominal pieces.

No wonder I am proud to have not one, not two, but three pieces of your handiwork in my possesion!

All the best,

Safety Bob

OK, it's time for me to come clean here--my real initials are FRB. The third. Yep-- and they have been, ever since.... well... about three minutes ago.

When you guys let a cat out of a bag, you don't mess around, do you?

Whoever FRB is, is one lucky dawg and he obviously knew where to go for a real-deal matched set with class. 'Oly smokes. I wanna get real close to them but without actually touching them!

The LW set is great, too. I love the custom s/n's.

Man, the grips you're making these days, Ted-- awesomely beautiful.

Big problem with the stainless ones that are part of our mystery set of five. Mine looks just like Jason's but with the exact same engraving pattern as Ted's....

But seriously folks..... those two are really something. This is gonna be a hell of a set. Mine's different in some ways, similar in others.... honest, I will post some pics if time allows.

The stainless slide stop on Ted's-- stainless on one side and nitre blue on the other-- now there' something ya don't see every day at the gun store!

I feel like I've been standing in a museum looking at the works of art from all the masters. Well, I guess I have. I can't take my eyes off the screen. Wonderful!

Needless to say all of the work is just breathtaking.
I want to know how long it took to find two commercial colts with serial numbers off by one digit!

Having seen most of these in person, I can honestly say that the pictures do not do them justice. Jason wiped my drool marks off the FRB gun.

Jason: looks like you stopped eating Hot Tamales long enough to finish that 1 of 5 gun. Looks great man!
