I guess Ned wins for being the last one to unveil his contribution to the Jury set of five sequesntially numbered Colt S/S Series '70 Goverment Models. I drug my feet for as long as excuses lasted, but thought I oughta go ahead and put my addition to the Jury set out to be seen. I started out the way everybody else did, with a nice package from Alaska Gun and a note from Bill asking for a conference to make plans. Bill essentially directed me to build one of my Peerless pistols with a couple of additions. The list of modifications includes:

Harrison Design rear sight -w- Heinie front, both in plain black
Slide top is flattened, serrated 40 lpi and bordered with flutes
Spring tunnel machined with ball cuts
Slide bottom is beveled at 45 degrees
Rear of slide is serrated at 50 lpi to match the rear sight blade
Ejection port is lowered & fluted with French borders
Schuemann Classic barrel fitted with H-D logo bushing & locking plug set
Muzzle flush crowned level with bushing
Frame rails welded and remachined to tighten slide to frame fit
Front strap trued and checkered 25 lpi
Legacy Custom MSH fitted, round butted and checkered 25 lpi with top & bottom borders
Briley S/S mag well fitted and beveled to 60 degrees
CMC S/S beavertail fitted with Ed Brown S/S ambis, reshaped to medium contour
Hand crafted stocks from claro walnut

I had a phone call Thursday from Todd Fischer, a custom knifemake in Florida who was gracious enough to agree to build the custom knife that will compliment this pistol. I sent him a matching piece of claro walnut to make the scales from and really look forward to seeing the two together. I will try to get some knife pictures posted with this thread.

Now for some pix -

Wow, John ... that's unbelievably sweet. It makes me miss home (even more). Can't wait to get home and come over to see you and play with it :(

Have a great trip to LV!

That Peerless package looks like it was destined for that pistol. There in not one detail that takes away from the rest of custom work, everything is perfectly balanced and I bet it's a shooter too.

Great Job! Image

John that is a great addition to the set!

You guys that are making your own grips, that impresses the heck outta me. The only thing I can make out of wood is firewood and sawdust.

And congrats on being first runner-up in the Last-To-Finish race :D

At least now I can be sure that mine will be the only one sporting a hood ornament from a '32 Rolls Royce Phantom.....

I beat you to it. This gun is awesome, the grips really complimented the finish. The owner will surely be pleased.

Ned was going to use a front fender from a Vincent Black Shadow at first but though it might be a bit "over the top".

I can't wait to see the set together  . That should be a very cool moment 8) .

In all honesty, this is the third set of grips I made for this pistol. The first two dies an early death from me trying to cut too close to my line  .

Again, truth be told, I'm still putting finishing touches and tweaks to it. But I'm not gonna count that toward a "finished last" title. I published pics, so there endeth the race....

Don't be so sure there, Batman! I do have a '63 Corvair rusting in the kudzu that might cough up suitable ornamentation.............

About those grips, I don't know if anyone noticed, John made the left panel so that it covers most of the slide stop plunger housing.

Stunning simply stunning perhaps one of the finest blending of customization I’ve ever seen.

I didn't get to hold all of the Jury 5 guns, but through the glass, you can tell they are a set to be proud of and then some. Those guns are just stunning in every aspect of the word. They represent the group of the LTW team - uinique alone, even better when grouped together.

You just can't get a better group of guys and guns together in one place like that.

Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Bob
