Got this back from Steve on Tuesday. Started life as a Colt Series 70 reissue. I put 50 rounds through it then sent it off to him. We communicated back and forth numerous times. Some of the details I specified, some I left up to his judgement. The scallops on the frontstrap and mainspring housing are my new favorite treatment. The rear sight is a Yost Professional Grade made for the Heinie cut. Steve did some milling on it. Most of the internals and the bushing are his own. Magwell is the Heinie mag well. 301 flawless rounds so far. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but this gun feels better in my hand than either of my SA TRP's. It seems to "handle" better. It's my first foray into the custom 1911 scene, and I fear now that it's not my last. These pics were shot by Steve before he sent it to me.

I think I wrote that poorly. It's not my first BUILD, it's the first full custom that I've owned. Steve has built lots of guns.

The finish is "Ceracote"

Thats a beautiful 70 re-issue. Wonderful work on the mag well, Koenig hammer, and MSH...wow!

I have a Colt on Steve's bench now, he is an amazing and talented pistol smith.

Invictus - William Ernest Henley 1849–1903

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

As a side note, these were Timothy McVeigh's last words...

Deephelment,

Can you give us the specs on that fine pistol? I always like to see the build sheets on such nice work.

Best regards,
Joseph

Steve is a great guy and great smith. I was just talking to him yesterday about doing some exlcusive 1911's for a new company we started this year.

He is a great out of the box pistolsmith, but has alot of respect for the classics.

Nice pistol.
