I wonder why Sig quickly dropped the 38 Super out of the P220. Didn't they make that for a short time?
I am not sure how "quickly" the .38 Super was dropped. As I understand it, SIG produced P220's imported as Browning BDA's in the early '80s and I had a new in box model which was date coded at 1998, if I recall correctly. That seems like a substantial run, in my opinion. As it relates to its demise, I am not sure the issue was with the pistol as much as the cartridge/pistol combination not working with SIG SAUER's customer base in North America.
In case your comment is directed at the integrity of the P220 to handle something other than .45 ACP or 9mm, please understand that the conversion is only available on P220ST models. The conversion is not/will not be available for aluminum frame pistols, regardless if they have a stainless or carbon slide.
FWIW and respectfully submitted.
