...with consecutive serial numbers (of course).

Recently, I posted a topic on making some grips
(http://www.louderthanwords.us/forum/vie ... f=6&t=6695)[/size]. Guess we can call this the conclusion of that thread.

Nothing over the edge on this pair - the good Dr. just wanted a clean cut look - set up for carry - with the normal bells and whistles you would expect in a set of high end shooters.

Oh - the checkering. Yeah, it's a little different. Been playing with this design for a while. Here's the deal. As we all know, normal checkering can sometimes have a propensity to snag on certain types of clothing, so the idea here was to keep the edges clean, allowing for no clothing snags or catches, and a nice smooth draw from concealment. The hand follows the horizontal grooves without so much as the smallest amount of drag, then when you make the grasp, your grip locks in just like on traditional checkering.

Um, I think it looks kind of snazzy, too.

Hope you enjoy these, Doc.

Gotta tell you brother, having just finished up lovely night tangling with the natives, and taking the ever leisurely drive down Irish - this definitely marks the highlight of my evening. Those are stunning. What's your wait list looking like! Incredible work. Incredible.

I must formally ask you to stop posting pictures of your work. My marriage and financial well being are at stake. Please to the responsible thing. No more pics...This is not going to end well for me.....

Very cool. I like the idea behind the checking. Suit linings will appreciate it I am sure.

I have never seen this night sight set up before...bars-dot? I guess I better get out more.

You have to be a pole vaulter around here as the bar contiually seems to be raised with the newest custom (and very cool) details.

Thanks for sharing.

CT Brian, a "to die for pistol"! Could you do me a favor and take a photo of the slide with the hammer down? Why? I tend to cock an empty 1911 prior to racking the slide on a loaded magazine, sights that are set too far back (see photo) impede this. Thanks in advance and regards, Richard :D

I have to agree with the others, that checkering pattern is very nice. It reminds me of the 1/3 checkering that Vic Tibbets had on some of his guns but a little cleaner looking. Truly a great front strap treatment for someone who prefers checkering to other front strap treatments.

I don't like them....

Well, to be fair, let me go back and take another look.

Ok, I was wrong, I REALLY like them. Mr. Brian (yes, I will keep calling you that - it's formal  ) you build some fantastic pistols. I love your contrast between the polishing and matte surfaces. They are so smooth yet so distinct. Also, the spring plugs on those are sweet. Do you turn them yourself or do you have a vendor? I would also be inclined to ask what grit you use in your blasting cabinet.

Grips, checkering, polish...you certainly do blend art with firepower.

I was looking over the pictures again and seen something.

Are my eyes tricking me or is there a partition on the barrels with the bottom half sandblasted with the top half brushed polished - or do I need to get a new monitor and/or glasses?

"The good Doctor"?

Must indeed be a good one. If he appreciates fine 1911's this much I'll bet anything he's a good tinkerer on the human platform.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Darn golf courses anyway.......

Thanks much for the kind comments, fellas. Every smith on this site likes to get constant feedback on their work. Keeps us striving, which in the end benefits everyone.

I've IM'd those who asked about my wait times. Paramedics have been dispatched to the scenes.

Richard, hopefully this snap will answer your question.

Mr. Miller, a few months ago Frank Brownell asked me those same questions. I wouldn't tell him either.

Lester, I'm thinking you'll enjoy this pair. (Thanks for your work with the scouts!)

Ned, get back to work.

Tim,

It's always a pleasure to look at your guns. I especially like the way you flatten the slide stop pin and chamfer the hole. It is truly a work of art.

Kinda makes me wish I sent that Sea Dweller your way. Beautiful work. I would imagine the owner is extremely please.
