I wear my IWB Sparks VM II against the skin (yes against my booty  ) and in hot weather it causes a rash. It is a little annoying to me but my wife isn't too impressed when she sees the red very holster shaped rash on my right cheek all the time. :P Sooo would switching from the slick leather to a rough side out holster fix this or would the rough side out do the same thing to my baby smooth skin or would it also just be a sponge for sweat and ruin the holster or cause rust? I'm too traditional to go Kydex. Thanks!

Sounds like it's time to go panty shopping. I even wear a t-shirt under my VM2 in the summer. I'd think the rough side out would be even more abrasive.

45Fundi,
This is the exact reason I started making my In-Cognito Deluxe with the rear covered in calf-suede. Anyway, save yourself the expense of buying a new holster if you are otherwise satisfied with the VMII. Go to the Dr. Scholl's section of Walgreens or a similar store and buy the largest piece of self adhesive mole skin you can find and cover the annoying part of the holster with it. Give me some feedback and let me know how this works out but I'm sure you'll be satisfied. Good luck....

Husker its not that its abrasive at all... in fact its just the opposite its so smooth that my ass sticks to it kind of like that spoon nose game where you breathe on the spoon and then hold it to your nose long enough for the breath to evaporate and it will stick to your nose. The holster gets damp and I guess as the sweat evaporates it sticks then it snaps off with movement and as I sweat and cool off all day long it does it over and over again until it actually sucks blood thru my pores. Its not the abrasion... its that slick! I can't believe I'm writing this, it never really was that big of deal to me until I got married 3 weeks ago and....well need to look for an answer

I thought of the moleskin, but years ago using moleskin I never could get it to stick to anything for long, so I might be calling Mr. Garrity for a new holster (s).

Wow, Mark I looked at the In-Cognito Deluxe and that is exactly the "A$$ Saver" I was looking for and you even thought of the plastic membrane! I'll be calling on Monday! You really should call it the A$$ Saver!

45Fundi:
It is possible that you are, or have become through repeated contact, allergic to leather. You might want to try the underwear/undershirt spacer just to test that. Or you could experiment with a kydex holster to see if that eliminates the rash.

Allergic to leather? Sounds like fetish problem  I hope not. It only happens during the summer when I sweat alot. I did develop an allergy to Casey's Sheath which used to use on all my guns, but it was a lung allergy not skin. I'm going 1911 shopping today and hopefully it will give me an excuse to try Mark's suede backed holster. If that doesn't solve it I might try moleskin and last case scenario try kydex. I can't wear underwear because I know I am allergic the them  Thanks

Also hate underwear with jeans. LOL

In the summer, I use a pair of roomy oxford cotton boxer shorts cut-up - only leaving a piece where the holster rides.

HTH,
John

I love it !.... we should market the "Pezulli Pistolero Panty Panel" for covert gunfighters who eschew undies  They will come in a Tie-Down style or Floating Gossamer Mesh... please specify left or right cheek

In the mean time while at the gunshow today thinking about this while perusing an enormous amount of crap I thought maybe I should just use an anti-perspirant on my cheek to keep it form perspiring. Of course I would use "Speed Stick" (bad pun intended  )

Any more comments and I WILL send pics....and it won't be pretty!

I also would like to point-out that macho football players wear panty hose - so there!

ROTFLMAO,
John

I have a few of Mark's Incognito Deluxe IWB's with another on the way and they are by far the most comfortable IWB's I have worn. I have used them in climates ranging from Alaska winters to Florida and Nevada summers and they have never let me down. They don't accumulate sweat or start to get a funky smell like some thought they would either, just a great, well designed IWB rig. Wish more makers would take a hint and use the suede backing!

When I was in SE Asia alot of the SAS guys wore pantyhose when they had to lay around for long periods in the jungle to keep the leeches off! The trick was you had to bring them with you from UK because trying to get XXL pantyhose in SE Asia is impossible. They all came in only one size tiny! I watched one guy who was only about 5'7" try and get into the local pantyhose and it was a hoot  I hope that is the last time I have to watch a short burly bloke try on XS pantyhose

Hhhmmm, maybe I'll try wrapping my VM II in Victoria Secret Thigh High
