Here's a few quick snaps of something I unwrapped this evening from a FedEx box marked overnight delivery. It's a Belgian HP from the 70's that I picked up locally for a decent price. It was in great shape originally but had some minor rust and wasn't as smooth as I wanted it to be. So after some looking around I decided I was liking the HP's that Don was producing, and that this would be a great candidate for a build.

Some of the specs:
Trigger job/travel reduction with C&S hammer
Reliability pkg
Heinie slant pros with a big old fat gold dot in front
Flattened and serrated slide top
Beveled mag well
KKM match barrell
Ion bond over hard chrome

And now for the pics (sorry I can't take a picture worth $@%@)

And already making friends...

Hope you guys enjoy...Thanks Don!

Really neat. Elegantly understated. Great attention to detail which is no surprise from Don.
Best,
Jeffro

Thanks for the photos Chris, glad you're happy with it. Here are a couple more I took before it left the shop.

That is P-35 Perfection! That safety is amazing... gorgeous Hi-Power!

Are the KKM barrels very different than the stock or a Barsto?

Thanks for the pics Don...I can't take one to save my life. Luckily I can shoot a pistol a little better than a camera. The details on this gun are amazing, and I don't think it could have come out any better than this. Man it's almost making me think that the HP in the classifieds would make a nice sibling to this one.

Aside from building great guns you take pretty good pics. Almost looks like another gun.

45Fundi, Both the Bar-Sto and KKM barrels are made from 416 stainless. KKM makes their barrels from one piece, where Bar-Sto makes theirs in 2 pieces and brazes them together like the factory barrels. Also, both are rifled at 1-16, and KKM's are button rifled vs. Bar-Stos are broached. Hope this helps,

Thanks Don I had been told erroneously it seems that the Bar-Sto barrels were "one piece". Not to hi-jack the thread about your Gorgeous Gun, but could you explain in layman's terms what button vs broached rifling is? Your knowledge is always inspirational! Thanks Again

45fundi, I'd suggest rather that you Google rifling, as it will take more room here than we want to spend discussing the differences. Suffice it so say that button rifling compresses the metal of the barrel where broaching cuts it. Wikipedia has a very thorough ex-planation of the different types. Best,

Hello. That is certainly a very beautiful and functional Hi Power pistol.

Best and thank you for letting us see it.

45Fundi: Early Barsto bbls were one-piece. Shortly thereafter they began the two-piece construction. I own both types and both shoot very well with no problems.

Thanks for the kind words everyone...My goal with this gun was to keep it fairly simple, but to get the best out of the upgrades that I went with. The Spegel's provide so much traction that I felt checkering wasn't necessary. Functionally and aesthetically I wanted it to be clean, classy, and smooth - I think Don definitely hit the nail on the head with that. And it's equally shiny on the inside too!

that's a good looking burner. I really need to find a BHP that I can send off to Don. Anyone know where I can find solid information on available hi-powers, and a couple of good sites where I might find a few for sale that can be used as a base gun?
