Some of you with sharp eyes may have noticed what looks to be a gap on the left side of the barrel hood. I'm embarrassed to admit that the pictures were taken with the wrong barrel in place!
I sent out two barrels for hardchroming and in my haste to get some pics taken, temporarily installed the wrong one. I never noticed it as with the exception of the hood width, the two were virtually identical. I discovered this when re-assembling the other gun, as the barrel would not fit! Of course, there is no way that the gun would leave my shop in that condition.
I employ a non-traditional method of barrel fitting and machine the hood width to match with the slide recess within a thousandths (.001") or two.
This involves first 'blueprinting' the slide to determine the exact offset and then machining the hood to match.
I'm hoping to get paid for this job before I need to affix my signature on my check to the US Treasury on April 14th!
And check out the logos that a customer developed for me. After I recover from the above mentioned larceny, I will have some shirts made. If interested, check my site.
