Chuck,
another truly incredible pistol. as an owner of one of your guns I can say that as great as they look in pictures ,the feel ,fit, and finish in person are even better.

Chuck's work is always delightful. However it is really jarring to the eye and mind to see an extended slide stop and waffle-iron mag release on such a neat pistol. I know that the customer spec's these things, but they're like having a "pass with care, driver chewing tobacco" bumper sticker on a Porsche.

Front serrations, well...I've gotten used to seeing them, to the extent that they're only like fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror of that Porsche.

Thanks for the kindness.
I do not always get to choose all of the details when building a gun for a customer.
This customer was quite specific in his choice of components and configurations.
The essence of a true 'custom pistol' is owning one that was built to satisfy YOUR
preferences, not reflect the desires of the builder.
I will not sacrifice reliability or safety, but beyond that, my customers can have it THEIR way.

Mr. Rogers, Did you do your magic on the rear sight or has Novak's changed the design of their adjustable? I seem to remember they were a bit "clunky" looking before. Very nice work, BTW.

Chuck,

Your work is nothing short of world class...period. Its nice to see the golf balling on an
ARCHED main spring housing. Have requested a 'treatment' on an arched mainspring
housing before, and was told, 'it can only be done on a flat housing, not an arched one'.
I have big hands so I need an arched housing...flat wont 'cut it'. (So I have to settle
for serrations or checkering...no other options?)

Im just saying, its refreshing to see a world class smith, 'just do it' ... and executing
the treatment perfectly too! The Colt is gorgeous from top to bottom, the hard chrome
is beautiful! (Please share the build sheet with us)

Well done, Chuck!

You rock!

GF,
Yes, the adjustable Novak rear sight has been altered to a lower, more friendly profile.
This build was done on a previously 'smithed' gun. Hence, the weld work and recoil spring components as noted below.
Here is the build list:

Fit slide to frame. Match grade.
Kart match barrel.
Remachine feed ramp.
Match barrel bushing. Thick flange. Custom contoured.
Recoil spring plug. Golfballed.
Recoil spring guide.
2 Wolff recoil springs.
Flatten and serrate top of slide. Arrowhead pattern.
Dovetailed front sight. Tritium lamp with white outline
Novak adjustable rear sight. Notch opened to .136”.
Add vertical white stripe beneath rear sight notch.
Remachine rear cocking serrations.
Forward cocking serrations.
French cuts.
Ball cuts at front, bottom of slide.
Machine heavy 60 degree bevel on bottom of slide.
Rework ejection port.
2 tuned, match extractors.
Oversized firing pin stop, fitted.
Fabricate custom ejector.
Golfball rear of slide and frame.
Beavertail grip safety with pad. Weld repair existing frame and cut to suit.
Golfball grip safety pad.
Wilson match hammer.
Wilson match sear.
Colt disconnector.
Wolff sear spring.
Greider match trigger. Solid with internal lightening. Medium length.
Trigger job 3 1/2 lbs.
Brown’s ambi thumb safety. Custom contoured. Medium
width. Same size right and left.
Add thumb safety paddle stop pin on right hand of frame.
Extended slide stop. Custom contoured.
Flush cut and radius slide stop pin. Chamfer frame hole.
High cut and golfball frontstrap.
Brown’s arched mainspring housing. Golfballed.
Rogers’ weld on magazine well.
Grip screws and bushings.
Davidson G10 grips. Black and grey.
Rogers’ bar/paddle style magazine release. Inletted into grips.
Carry bevel package. Medium sized.
Hardchrome with polished sides of slide and controls.

Some of you with sharp eyes may have noticed what looks to be a gap on the left side of the barrel hood. I'm embarrassed to admit that the pictures were taken with the wrong barrel in place!
I sent out two barrels for hardchroming and in my haste to get some pics taken, temporarily installed the wrong one. I never noticed it as with the exception of the hood width, the two were virtually identical. I discovered this when re-assembling the other gun, as the barrel would not fit! Of course, there is no way that the gun would leave my shop in that condition.
I employ a non-traditional method of barrel fitting and machine the hood width to match with the slide recess within a thousandths (.001") or two.
This involves first 'blueprinting' the slide to determine the exact offset and then machining the hood to match.

I'm hoping to get paid for this job before I need to affix my signature on my check to the US Treasury on April 14th!

And check out the logos that a customer developed for me. After I recover from the above mentioned larceny, I will have some shirts made. If interested, check my site.
:D

Chuck,
Your attention to detail is masterful.
Your gats are stupendous.

I love the new logo. It is a fitting tribute to the lethality of your creations!!!

Chuck great pics.
Oh yes, nice pistol.
That extened slide stop contoured, works for me.
I really like the work on the MSH. Now people will have to decide between flat, arched, or contoured.
