I was looking for a straight drop, speed cut OWB like a Heinie-Alessi DOJ with belt loops. Any recommendations?

I saw the Equalizer 2 at Haugen Handgun Leather. Does anyone have any experience with them...quality/turnaround time?

Jerry at Haugen makes some pretty decent leather and from what I have read his turnaround times are pretty quick. Give him a call!!

Thanks. Do you own any or have you used any of their stuff? I know you have what to compare it to  .

I guess in simplest terms I am looking for a speed cut Nelson #1 Professional.

I came across this site from a link on the 10-8 forum. I have exchanged emails with him and plan on ordering something from him in the near future. From the pictures it looks like quality work and he was spoken of in high regards on 10-8. Good luck in your quest...

I believe that Rusty Sherick has what you are looking for.

Check out the Skip Gouchenour Vertical Holster and although canted the Tom Givens Model may also meet your needs. High quality leather.

Thanks, John. That Gochenour Extreme High Ride may be the ticket. Speed cut...that thing has a plunging neckline! It also has the belt loop and tunnel design to keep it close to the body that seems to work for me.

My brother actually has a Tom Givens Rangemaster model. It is a great range holster, but rides very low and slightly away from the body for my CC liking. The long one piece belt loop also makes it a bit difficult to carry with belt loops on the pants.

I had a Haugen Equalizer for a S&W 4566 which was my old duty gun. It was extremely well constructed but lacked the low cut "speed" front you get with the Alessi/Heinie DOJ or DOJ/S.

I have some leather from Jerry. His stuff is not bad ( I would say 7.5/10). The more leather I buy, the pickier I get. Turn around time was as advertised (10-12 weeks)

Rusty's holster has the added benefit of steel around the mouth where the DOJ did not. The addition of the steel band will help keep the fit more snug over time on such a low cut holster.

I would not use any holster that had a steel top band for duty use. I had a steel top band bend when the pistol was in my hand during rough activity. I could not re holster the pistol until I removed the holster from my belt and did some careful re forming of the holster mouth.
