Don,

I have a pair of HP's at your shop. I think I ordered your classic HP.
What would you put into a time capsule if it was a 1911?

Lester

Lester, Lord, I don't really know. Just to be different, maybe a couple of 10MM's, maybe 10MM Commanders. Or a matched pair but in 10MM and 45. :?

That 10mm Don had up not long ago was sweet. A one hole gun and a pleasure to shoot. Great looking gun. Somebody got quite a Commander sized 10mm.

I can't wait to see teaser pictures of my pair of commanders.

Chuck,
What would you put on your trademark 1911? Scallops? Fishscales? Golfball? Would you do that to titanium. It will take me a year before I can send you something. I have 3 pairs in the queue.

Lester

Dave,
from my experience, it was the smoke coming out  .

CT,
who does the tritium bar tubes for you??? Ted has a pistol of mine that another ''pistolsmith'' worked on that I had a bar installed on the rear but the tritium and install came from I.W.I.

Trade mark 1911 :? errrrrrr, I dunno!
I've never really built a gun 'on spec' with something like that in mind.
Like all of the smiths here, I work closely with my clients to create what THEY want in a 1911. Sometimes it is close to what I consider ideal, but still not MY gun.
I'll be starting work on a 'pair' here shortly that I think will be quite nice. No, not a matched pair, but one Colt SS Government and one Colt SS Commander, set up identically. Full-housed and golfballed, with most of what I like in defense guns.

I know I speak for a few others, but just looking at a gun, I know who built it. I can look at a gun and say that's a Yost, Bailey, CT Brian, Chuck Rogers, Don Williams, Heine, etc. That's what makes everything so great. I know I could give identical instructions to any of these smiths and the execution would all be specific to the instuctions, but would all have their own distinct personalities; that's exactly what I love aboout custom 1911s, not one is the same.

I'm thinking you might want to be sitting down when you first see them, John.....

I'll get on that.

I'll be happy to oblige, Lester - as long as you promise to keep that scalpel away from me!!!

Tooltech in Oxford, MI. They're pretty pricey, but their tubes and work are so head and shoulders above IMI, that it's laughable.

That is really sexy. Hate the grips but love the gun.
I especially like the slide and slide stop treatment and the perfect beavertail. Crisp!

I am sending out the word to all of my clients to send every 1911 I ever did to the crusher. They were Junk compared to what you guys are doing now. What a pleasure to see such talent and skill on a gun forum. Thanks. Just ignore the tears. It's tough to be a "has been" , but better than being a "never was!"
