This one is getting ready for a trip up north to it's owner. I've done quite a bit of work for this gentleman over the last few years, but this is the first full house gun that I've done for him. The list of work is basically my Peerless Package, plus the few items that were'nt included in the package or upgraded from package specs. It's a Colt re-issue Series '70 finished in IonBond DLC, wearing grips by Esmerelda. The slide to frame fit was welded and remachined, a Kart barrel & Ed Brown bushing were fitted as well as an EGW 6" guide rod which was chopped to be flush with the end of the plug. It has a SDM dovetail front sight, blended to the radius of the slide, and with the flat top borders machined through it. A Champion +.020" adjustable rear sight rides in a deluxe pocket cut and in-between the sights is my normal 40 lpi serrated flat top. The owner spec'd an Ed Brown beavertail and tactical ambi with an STI trigger, C&S sear and disconnector & Koenig hammer. I checkered the front strap 25 lpi, fitted and checkered a Chen MSH / mag well suite. The slide was treated to High Power cuts, beveled bottom, ball cuts and french borders. Enjoy the pics!

John-

That is a thing of beauty....lucky guy who get this one. The lines of Stan's magwell suite, are blended to perfection. Super clean build.

There is some fine detailing. The front sight blending, bordering, ball cuts, and magwell are sweet! I normally don't care for the looks of a beveled slide bottom, but that is very carefully done and subtle.....and just OUTSTANDING.

That is one lucky owner.

Phenomenal. Really glad I'm on your "peerless" list. That's a lot of good stuff right there.

An absolutely stunning pistol and the detail is what anyone would expect with your work John.

Love the lines on this gun. It looks like a piece of precision machinery. Beautiful!

Yup...some builds just really come together well. This would be the difference between a nice build and a phenomenal piece.

John, can you offer a little about the "HP cuts"? They seem to be a little more popular on 1911 pattern pistols these days, but the specific cuts all look a little different. Differences in artistic preference aside, what is the thought process?

Again, just awesome.

who did the ionbond and dlc, and how does it take to stainless? Is that the step, ion first then dlc. Who is the best to send them to for this finish. Thanks ahead of time and appreciate it!

Hi Chad,

It works fine on carbon, stainless and bare aluminum (not anodized). You can get current info from www.ionbondguncoatings.com

Love the work at the front of the slide. Reminds me a bit of a Browning Hi Power.

It's not a long slide. It's a standard 5" Government Model.

It blends so well, I did not realize that it was a long slide at first glance. Nice work.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all your most kind comments. It is a 5" Colt Government Model, not a 6". The High Power cuts coupled with camera angles make it look longer than you'd think it really is. When I saw the post about it being 6". I was really confused for a minute, until I studied the pics. Thanks again!
