I have been emailing and working up a build with Bob Serva from Fusion Firearms. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with his work. I have heard good things, but could not find anything on his work on this site. I am not sure if they are Full Custom or Semi-Custom, but he seems willing to do whatever I want.

What I am looking at having him build is a Full Size 1911 with an ION Bond finish, Novak Sights. What I want is Similar to his TACT-5 Elite and The Hunter Elite X-5 only I think I have decided on a non railed version. This will be my first 1911 and I want to make sure I do it right and go with the right smith. Does anyone have any recommendations on options, other smiths, etc.? The gun will used for concealed carry and range work. I want a no nonsense and reliable pistol with a budget of about $2K

Thanks,

Cole

I have built a few customer guns on his platforms. They are easy to work with (almost too easy) and void of any nasty markings that would ugly up a gun. They are cast however, but his machine work is pretty dang good. For 2k, your choices are pretty open.

I have also been talking to Bob about a build and his frames and slides are forged not cast. Bob seems to be an outstand guy from talking to him and from what I've read. He builds some really nice 1911's. Nothing like some of the "one off's" displayed on this forum, but a really nice pistol...

When he first started the company and we talked, his stuff was cast. I haven't built anything on his frames or slides in over a year so things may have changed. I read the website and his stuff is now forged. Last time Bob and I talked, he was talking about shifting to a forged frame and slide but I never heard anything about it again. Sorry for my old info.

**edited to add- some of his frames are still cast.
