I sent Mr. Harrison my stainless steel Colt Combat Commander that I bought new in '91. I have shot this .45 more than any other pistol that I own and have always wanted to have a few custom modifications added on. I wanted a full rebuild and refinish. The grips are Desert Ironwood and it was love a first sight/touch. The Ivory grips have the original silver Colt medallions that John cut out of the rubber wrap around grips that came with the gun back in '91. These are the first Ivory grips I have ever owned and they are gorgeous in person. The texture is silky smooth.

Parts and Modifications:
SDM front sight w/white dot blended to slide top
YB pro grade rear sight
Kart NM barrel w/deep polish crown & barrel hood
EGW bushing
Long spring plug checkerd 30 lpi.
EGW slide stop w/lower serrations
EGW firing pin stop
Bar stock plunger tube
Ed Brown wide thumb safety-blended
Ed Brown firing pin
Wilson Bullet Proof Extractor
EGW extended ejector/blended rear slide
Harrison hammer and smooth long trigger set
McCormick beavertail
King's grip screws indexed
Legacy Custom Mainspring Housing checkered 30 lpi. and round butt mod.
High cut front strap and checker 30 lpi.
Carry Bevel
Bevel mag well
Hand made Desert Ironwood stocks
Ivory stocks w/ original silver medallions
Polish slide and frame flats/ IonBond
Drill hole for rear sight set screw
French Border slide
Weld and rework frame/slide fit

I got the pistol I had always wanted. You only live once and now I'm going to try and wear this puppy out.

I'd like to thank Mr. Harrison for taking the pictures and hosting them for me. And thanks again for doing a great job on my "Perfect Packin' Pistol".

Beautifully done, BTW how do you like the white insert on your front sight?

Isn't it, though. John just tends to make them that way...

Beautiful Commander! The more I look at the pics, the more I like it!

I've got a SS Commander at one of the LTW 'smiths right now, never thought abut having it Ionbond applied, interesting thought.

John has a habit of making every pistol he touches into something special. This is a brilliant example of that. Great job, John!!!

I've always been a big Craig Spegel fan but the more I look at John's custom grips the more I like them.

That's a beauty. As much as I love ivory stocks those JB Harrison-crafted ironwoods out class them! And you're right on target... that's a damn perfect packin' pistol.
