More generally, my friend was told by a maker that it could not be done. I understand why a normal light on a rail would be a problem, since it is wider than the pistol that follows, but since this is thinner, it seems doable. Or am I missing something?

I am currently working with CT to get some of those modules for just that purpose....

K-Man, glad to see you on the forum here. I have a Pocket Defender that you built for my Colt Pony Pocketlight, with the "Gripper" material on it and it has become my "shorts" and t-shirt rig for here in VA during the summer months and often rides as a BUG in a coat or slacks pocket in cold weather too!! I LOVE the job you did for me.
Walt, I am POSITIVE that regardless of whether you go with John or with K&D, you will be happy with the end result. Since John is a regular member of the family, if I may I would like to mention a bit about Kevin and crew at K&D (*I am NOT affiliated, just a happy customer).
Kevin is a retired Navy man, and also has done quite a few years behind a badge too, much of it in the humid climes of Fla. When I found K&D Holsters, I had never heard of them and was as usual very skeptical about spending the money for something unheard of. I placed several calls to them and spoke to a very friendly young lady who was very knowledgable and helpful, ok point #1 for me..the staff knows guns firsthand and what I am talking about not just some kid answering the phone. Then I promptly got a return call from Kevin, and we discussed my specific desires and design questions. I immediately liked this gentleman for his blunt honesty and input or replies to my needs. I still have the weapon/holster combo, his prices and delivery times were very good, and I WILL be purchasing from him again.
I am sorry for hijacking the thread here, and of course John....as always you have my utmost respect for both you and your wonderful products. I merely wanted to help introduce a fine gentleman and veteran into the community for those who were not familiar. Best regards--John

Walt, that's no problem sir! I am by far NO expert, but I do know what I like, and like most of us here have boxes of holsters that "don't work for me". I was fortunate enough to find out about K&D, liked what I heard while I was doing my "recon" calls, and their polite attitude and prompt return call from Kevin. He listened to a few concerns that I had, answered all my questions, and was a perfect gentleman to speak with, all requirements for me personally when my life may depend on the product, and I'm dropping hard-earned cash on. The little holster has been serving me and my Pony for about 4-5 years now, is very easy to draw and reholster, and darned if the "gripper" material doesn't keep it right where I want it to be at all times. I routinely wear this in a pair of Columbia "River" shorts most of three seasons, and it works equally well in a pair of chinos. I found his price and short turnaround times to also be added bonuses. My final compliment for Kevin and his company: It is VETERAN-OWNED..so that is a deal-closer for me too! Best regards--John

Please let us know when the ankle holsters and/or pocket holsters for this combination are available. I currently carry my PM9 in one of Lou Alessi's ankle rigs or a Rusty Sherrick pocket holster (it may sound disloyal, but I like it better than the Alessi pocket holster for my Kahr, which tends to pull out of the pocket on the draw - the Sherrick stays put). Neither will accommodate the extra bulk of the CT laser module.
