Thanks, I acquired the pistol late last year. What information that I have been able to gather thus far is that it appears that the pistol was built by Mike LaRocca while he was at Pachmayr Gun Works. I am trying to gather some documention from Mike regarding this. I showed the pistol to Paul Liebenberg at Pistol Dynamics, Paul was also working at PGW in the 80's and told me that the pistol was geared toward the bullseye shooting crowd and says that the pistol should be a real tack-driver. I have yet to shoot it.

It has an 8-3/4 inch ported barrel manufactured by Bar-Sto, a Swenson Ambi Safety, Bo-Mar rear sight, Pachmayr Accurizer, squared & checkered triggerguard, checking on the front strap and rear of slide.....real cutting edge back in the day.

Thanks......I actually felt the same way when I spotted it, definitely not my cup of tea in 1911's. It was sitting in a south FL gun store, in what they referred to as their "Coffin Case," guns that won't sell. It was actually a consignment piece. I was walking right past it and what caught my eye was the Pachmayr markings on it. I shot a phone call to Paul real quick, told him what they were asking for it......he instructed me to throw the money down and run with the gun, lol.

Side story: I knew I had seen pics of a Signature Model somewhere.....I found pics in "The Combat Auto" and "The Combat .45" both by Bill Wilson. What made that especially cool was that closely examining the pics......same serial number, not pics of a gun like this one....it is this one.

So now it's one of those pieces that if the right buyer (Pachmayr collector) shows up I amy part with it, but otherwise it's a great piece of 1911 history to hang on to. My girlfriend's 12 year old refers to it as 'the James Bond Gun." LOL.

What is that in front of the trigger guard? Is it part of the take down system?

It is a Pachmayr Accurizer. I attaches to the bottom side of the frame's dust cover and is held in place by the slide lock/release. There is a allen head screw in the front. As you tighten the screw, the screw contacts the trigger guard and asserts upward pressure on the slide causing a tighter slide to frame fit.

Interesting concept, do happen to have any pics of the inner details?

Thanks. I haven't put a set of weights on the trigger yet, I am guessing that it is about 3-1/4 pounds. I will go by a local shop tomorrow that has a set of trigger weights.

I haven't taken any, I had the pistol at Paul Leibenberg's Pistol Dynamics and he took a series of photos. I'll see if he has some suitable ones.

It's been a while. Did it turn out that Mr. Leibenberg had photos of the internals to share? I'd really like to see those, to compare...

I will reach oout to Paul and see if he has them. I have since parted with this pistol in order to fund another custom project.

When you get the background sorted out I'll be very surprised if it was built for bullseye. The barrel length is much longer than the rules allow and red front sights are VERY unusual in that particular sport. It looks purpose built for some type of long range accuracy type of competition, maybe shooting steel well beyond typical distances.
