I thought that I would share my idea of a small 1911 built on a series 80 Colt Officers steel frame gun. It is simple, yet detailed. Probably the only areas which were a little off the beaten path for me were the flutes on the barrel and ivory grips, just because I could.

This one started as one of those early 1980s Colt's which didn't have a single straight or nice line on it and tool marks everywhere.

A lot of TLC, detail, and good parts have left her looking like this. BTW and most importantly it shoots very well and is 100% reliable.

Some details:

Frame to slide fit
High cut front strap
Serrated front strap
Trigger guard lines all recut and straightened
Hand bevel magwell
Serrated MSH fitted
Ed Brown thumb safety - narrowed
Wilson beavertail
Med. Yo-Bo Trigger
Yo-Bo Action components and 4lb. trigger
Wilson Match barrel and bushing
Flutes on Barrel
Barstock plunger tube
Wilson FP & FP stop
Ed Brown pin set
Wolf spring set
Ed Brown recoil system
Wilson extended ejector
Wilson BP extractor
Blend rear of slide/frame
Complete reliability tune
Flare ejection port
Flat top and serrate
French Borders
Heinie rear sight (wrapped and notch opened)
Gold line front sight
Ed Brown slide stop - with added serrations
Dehorn
All lines trued and all tool marks removed
Slide flats polished to 320
Shortened grip bushings & screws (registered)
Thinned Ivory Grips & African Black Wood Grips (which are still in process - I have only drilled, rough shaped, and flattened the blocks at this time.)

I sat across from Ray on several different spells while he built this one. He did pay a ton of attention to every detail, line, and part. Only saw the finished product from afar and before blueing. This is a very nicely done OACP.

Ray, I gotta hand it to ya, those grips look pretty friggin' cool. 8)

Ray,

You have to stop posting these pictures. When you posted commander pics, I ordered one and then decided to order a pair. When I saw your Scout rifle, I ordered one from Lew.

I am going to go bankrup if I keep ordering from the Yo-Bo family. I do have the wasy payment plan option though

Instead of saying the devil made me do it, I will now say RAY made me do it

Nice little blaster there, Ray. I really like it! You did a superb job with the lines. Making a messed up trigger guard look right again is a lot of hard work as everything you do in one spot impacts another. Nice work and thanks for letting us see!

Ray, A superb job. I've personally seen some Colts that were simply awful in the cosmetics dept., and can only imagine what you went through to get this one looking as good as it does.

R.B. - I hope you enjoy it. My pride was in this one, building it for the SHOT show.

I just took delivery of this pistol from a private sale with board member Depmur.

Ray - i dont know how to sum it up, but this is my first officers build, and it will probably be my last. How could I find anything else in comparison..?

It was a pleasure doing business with you. If you need a reference in the future feel free to throw my name out there. If my Commander doesn't turn out great I might want the OACP back. Ray did a great job on it and then I got lucky in a raffle and won it. Of course after that my Kimber couldn't hold a light to anything. Their are a couple of smiths who are glad I won this pistol. Once again thanks Derrick for the smooth transaction.

I don't remember seeing this thread before.
I'm sorry I missed it. That's a fine looking gun.
