This gun represents my first time having a full custom built for me. A few years ago I read an article about the MARS Armament T.H.U.G. 1911 and decided I had to have a gun built by Steve Morrison. After a bit of research, and ispiration from some other builds I decided a Colt 01918 "Black Army" would be my base gun. I really came to like the old school original roll marks and thought it would make a really nice cutom 1911. Last November I picked up the gun, looked it over for one day and sent it off to Steve. Yesterday, I got an e-mail from Steve telling me the gun was finished and will ship on Monday, just in time for me to have it for Christmas!

This gun is built on Steve's Axiom package to which I added the following; Flush cut muzzle to stainless thick flange bushing, MARS golf ball on front strap and mainspring housing, golf ball grips to match, Koenig low mass hammer, gold bead front sight with a heine rear sight modfied by Steve with a cocking ledge, and black ceracoat finish. I also had Steve fit both an extended thumb safety and fit the original GI safety. The photos sent by Steve show the gun wearing the GI safety. My intent for this gun was for it to not be a safe queen, nor did I want it to be over the top with cosmetic features. In short I wanted this gun to be a blend of old and new, formed into a hard use, reliable 1911 that would serve me well and I would be proud to own. I think Steve really nailed it with this one. Please enjoy the pics (pics taken by Steve) and tell me what you guys think.

Great 1918 Black Army that Steve built for you, Robert ... WOW
Thats a killer Christmas present!

Steve just finished a Colt Govt. 1911 for me, and sent it to Metaloy last week for the finish!

Steve is a great pistol smith in every way, a real honor having him build one for me. :D

I really like Steve-- and his work.

Tell him if he's at SHOT and does not stop by the LTW booth, that will all change....

Copy that Ned! I have wanted a gun from Steve for quite a while and finally a year ago I got the thumbs up from the wife. I bought my base gun the next day, and sent it to Steve the day after. Now I have to pick a smith for my next build, oh the horror!
