My Browning Hi Power just came back from Heirloom Precision. Ted did a sweet job on this baby.
Can't wait to sneak over to the range and try her out. I have a nice indoor range a mile from where
I sit, but I'm a guy short this week. We might have to arrange a power failure or something. :)

Upon opening the box, all I could say was "GOOD GOD!"

One of my main concerns was the factory 12/12 trigger. Twelve inches of pull and 12 pounds.
The trigger feel has been totally transformed, and feels very 1911-like.

Otherwise, I told Ted I'd like some sights installed, a beaver tail weld-up, some manner of texture
on the frame, and whatever else he wanted to do. I told him to "go crazy" and almost immediately
retracted the statement as the implications dawned on me.

You guys will easily recognize the myriad other touches. I pick out new details each time I look at it.

I've always thought the BHP felt "right" in my hands. I guess I never realized how much better it could
get. Between the beaver tail, the stippling, the thumb safety shape and the trigger feel, the pistol fits
my hand with absolute perfection. Maybe the grips help a bit too.

As you can imagine, I'm as happy as a puppy with two peters and simply have to share/gloat. It's raining
too hard to fetch the tripod from the car, so these pics are a bit sloppy. They certainly don't do justice
to the pistol.

Wow, that is one fine looking HP. Very nice looking serrations on the rear of the slide.
Nothing feels as nice in a hi cap as a Browning Hi Power.
Congratulations.

Matt. I have one in line, and will be getting similar to yours. I really like the sight set up on that gun.

One fine piece of work

You can't go wrong with a T-Ray Yost HiPower. Heirloom pistols ... some of the finest pistols in the world.

Those grips are amazing (as is the rest). Might I ask who made those grips?

@ Joe D.

They're Spegels, Joe. http://www.craigspegel.com/. Very nice color, the checkering is very nice as well, and they aren't
any thicker than they need to be which helps the pistol feel slimmer than it really is.

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys. I still get a silly little grin on my face each time I see it.

Congrats on your new P35 build! It looks very well done!

Little details like the 'Fine French Border' on the slide, and rear serrations do wonders.

Give us a range report soon too!

The range report is that the little beauty is amazing. My total experience shooting BHPs before this pistol was about 300 rounds through a stock .40 S&W version a few years ago, and maybe 100 to 150 rounds through this pistol before sending it to Ted. I'm no sharpshooter, but I can shoot a decent 1911 better than any of the dozens of other pistols I've owned over the years. At the end of my second range trip with the BHP after its return, I can honestly say I'm more accurate with it than I am with any of my 1911s. To me, that's a huge compliment to Ted's BHP wizardry.

I'm not sure, CW. I'm not good at guessing trigger pull, and I don't have a trigger scale. Plus, I'd hazard a guess that there's more to it than simply the reduced trigger weight. I *can* say that I have have a couple of 1911s which have triggers that are probably too light for me. You probably know what I mean, without considerable concentration, the trigger release will occasionally surprise you. That kind of freaks me out a bit. The BHP has never done that. When the trigger does break, it's very, very tactile. It's a bit difficult for a cave man like me to explain. Kind of like when you cork your cave man club, I guess. :)

If that BHP is your prize piece, I can highly recommend a trip to Heirloom. I can't imagine you'd be anything less than tickled pink. I know I am!

Oh yeah, CW, that'll work! I'd like to have a twin in .40 cal, or more likely 30 Luger one of these days.
