Looks like great stuff, especially the 230g match ball, since the old Federal "Gold" standard seems to be unavailable.
What velocity is it running at?

btw, am I the only person wondering what ASYM stands for?
:)

Hey Stan,

I just wanted to say "Thank You!" for the case of FMJ.
And for your graciousness to this pilgrim.

Haven’t gotten to the range since this arrived.
Maybe a range report later.

James

Did some grouping today with some Asym .45 ACP. Just a snapshot, one guy, a couple guns and a couple loads...... bearing in mind I am not a group-shooting guru. All groups are seven shots except with the Colt Officers ACP, those are both six.

A Guncrafter Industries "American" with the 185 JHP target load, left, and the match 230 hardball, right. 28 yards, bags, old eyes (the one high left on the right target is a staple tear-out, not a bullet hole):
Image
I was very pleased with these...... it's been a while since I have shot groups this small..... it ain't getting easier as time goes by

Here's a pic of the American for those of you that didn't know about it. 15LPI on the frontstrap and MSH, and "Shredder" grips. My review of this pistol should be showing up in SWAT Magazine shortly.

230 match left, 185 match right. Kinda blew it on the left target but that 185 load almost seems to make up for anything I do wrong with the sight picture. This is the custom Springfield I recently finished: http://www.m-guns.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8389

....and, my Officers ACP with the 185 target load, left, and Asym's 185 SDX load, right. This group seems like scant praise especially since my OACP with its Wilson barrel has been exceptionally accurate over the years, but I have shot better groups with the SDX and never larger. Anyway this solid copper (Barnes) bullet seems very much like the new way to go for a defensive hollow point and was never touted as a target round. It's being loaded by several ammo companies. The Asym loading of it is very much with the others in terms of accuracy and is loaded to a level that gives a discernable edge over some of the others in terms of controlability, flash and noise, which should also translate into increased reliability. I mean, there is a certain velocity at which this bullet does its job, and too much above that gives diminishing returns.

Another comment on the Guncrafters. I have had 5 of the "No Name" pass through and everyone who has it now is very happy with the guns. One has changed the grips to a VZ Diamondback. Otherwise. Great results.

I will get to try out some of the rounds soon. Got some inbound. Going to see what they do in the Rogers I have at 50 yards.

Combined with the intro pricing we have on some loads, this makes for some incredible values on top quality ammunition.

Here's a list of current in stock items:

45 ACP National Match 185 JHP

Johnny is only 3, but dad has high hopes for a little Stevie Ray..

How many stereotypes did I just perpetuate? :(

A free box of Match Hardball goes out to the first one who can guess what ASYM really stands for, and the meaning behind it...post it here if you think you know. You don't get to play if I've already told you!

BTW, today is the last day of our 10% off HOLIDAY SALE! We extended it through today, 12/31, and as I read above I realize I am remiss in not posting it here, it's been a crazy month. Great chance to stock up on the good stuff.

Mikey357 - 9mm MATCH coming late Q1. You will be able to buy the same ASYM PRECISION loads that Julie Golob shot to win 2 WORLD TITLES and 2 NATIOINAL TITLES this year!

.40 S&W will be a ways out. Stay tuned though, 9mm and .380 SDX defensive loads, featuring the awesome Barnes solid copper hollowpoint, are coming soon! Also, the .45 SDX loads will be back in stock right after SHOT.

Happy New Year everyone! :D

Just wanted to drop a note about some testing we did with the 185gr Match HPs yesterday. I know the old internet adage "Pics or it didn't happen" but unfortunately I don't have pics for this. Bruce and I went and shot a bunch of pistols at 50yds to decide what to take to Bianchi and while we were shooting we decided to test some of the ASYM ammo in a 1911 Bruce built a few years back. Bruce shot a 1.75" group (5 shots) at 50yds off a bag out of a Kart barreled 1911 he built a while ago.

Great ammo that we at Grayguns heartily recommend...

I have am in the market to change out my off duty ammunitions and just saw that ASYM Precision has ammo loaded with the Barnes solid copper jhps. After seeing first hand how well these bullets work through barriers and gel I decided to give them a try in my pistols. No doubt these are expensive compared to conventional jhp designs but ASYM Precision is selling them at a great value. Now Mr. Chen you just need to offer a 110gr 38spec loading and you will be my one stop shop!

Just got a gun back from the bluer. It loves the 230 FMJ. I shot a group about 1.5" center-to-center with it. A photo of that is going with the package to the editor.
