Finished this one yesterday.
The finish on the Damascus was etched with Muriatic Acid for 15 minutes. The Frame finish is a slow Rust Blue, that turned out a nice even matte blue-black over bead blast.
Build specs as follows:
Caspian Officer length Damascus slide, no radius cut for a unique look. High beveled the bottom edges and Ball end milled grooves on the top. 50 LPI serrating on the back with a match extractor. The ejection port has been slightly relieved in the front to aid with live round ejection.
Wilson Carbon steel frame, with 30 lpi serrating on the front of the trigger guard and 30 lpi checkering on the front strap. High cut the front grip then gave a nice border to the checkering.
Mated a Schuemann AET barrel, nice and tight. I did have to ream this one for proper head space, which is not an issue I have had with any of the other AET barrels I have used...but that's why I have the reamer.... The recoils system is the EGW .25 FLGR and ISMI flat spring. nice smooth cycling and very reliable in a sub 4.25 inch barrel gu n.
Wilson BP stainless Beavertail saftey, chopped and reprofiled, then stippled and bordered the pad. Blended a Wilson MSH and stippled in the arrowhead shape, but with a twist. I left a small area blank for engraving . Both given an even bead blast.
Harrison design ignition parts with a STI Ti hammer strut. The hammer has been blued to aid in corrosion resistance and for looks. Nice crisp 3.5 lbs trigger pull. Trigger is a 10-8 flat trigger...these are definitely growing on me.
Reprofiled EGW thumb safety and slide stop. The SS has been serrated under the pad at 40 LPI and stippled in a cats-tongue texture on top. Same with the EGW HD mag catch.
The sights are both reprofiled "rescue" sights (hey some people rescue dogs, I rescue dinged sights...) The front sight was an SDM gold dot that had a nick in the gold dot, blended, cut back and serrated at 50 LPI. The rear sight was a YoBo take off that was dinged up on the back of the blade. I reprofiled and blended it to the slide, then chamfered the leading edges and serrated the back at 50 LPI to match the slide.
All this has been topped off by a set of exhibition grade American Black walnut grips made by a local guy, Edward Self of "Self Made Grips."
Pics to follow.
