Just picked this up recently because I've always been a fan on retro looking guns. Feel lucky to find a classic authentic retro Colt from classic gunsmith Jim Hoag:

Just thought I'd share it with folks who would appreciate it (unlike my local buddies who only like Baers and Kimbers). Hope you like it.

That's Beautiful!! Ii've been looking for an old Hoag for a long time. Twice in the past few years, one has showed up, but I wasn't ready to take advantage of the opportunities

Looks like you have a gem there! I'd like to think that thats what I would have been carrying, had I been on the job 30 years ago. Again, a nice piece that Im sure would serve well today.

Thanks. I didn't even know it had the barrel tightening device (like Swenson) until I got home. That's sure explains why it's tight as a drum!

Beautiful Classic Colt! I'll take it over any Baer or Kimber.

Agreed, a very nicer bit of history. I notice that it has the rear sight clicked up a few nothces, as all the old guns did, and that someone banged the rear sight blade. Again, I've seen that more than once or twice.

Battle scars or love taps. No biggie to me!

Jim's a great guy. That pistol looks fantastic. I love the fact that we have quite a few great gunsmiths here in S. CA. Jim is definitely one of the great "old school" gunsmiths. It's too bad some of our great old school smiths have move away.

Or moved on -- like Swenson.

I apologize for digging up an old thread, but I just found it. I love that pistol. Any chance I could get you to email me some close up pics of the grip safety? I dig the grips too. I'm a sucker for nostalgia.
