I am not very computer saavy, nor am I a wordsmith, so bare with me. This is the first time I've attempted to post pictures of my work, but I've been wanting to and have been putting it off.
I got a box of old Colt parts from a customer that included most everything except a frame and barrel. The slide was all gnarled up but useable. I decided not to use the original hammer, sear and disconnector, so I replaced them with John Harrison's retro parts, which are very, very nice parts. I ordered a Caspian 1911 frame to use with the Colt slide and a Kart barrel. I used a 14K gold dovetail front sight and John Harrison's retro rear sight. I recheckered the original slide stop because it was badly pitted and beat up. I reserrated the original mainspring housing and got most of the pits out. I also reserrated the original thumb safety to make it easier to look at. I serrated the Caspian frame frontstrap, the top of the Colt slide and the rear of the slide at 50LPI. I also put a french border on the slide and recut the vertical serrations. I polished the slide flats to 600 and blasted all of the rounds with a mix of aluminum oxide and glass beads. I blued the entire gun and nitre blued the trigger, pins and screws. It shoots nice and the customer was very pleased. Enjoy the pics. JT

Those WW1 slides are pretty soft. I wouldn't shoot it much.

2 things:

1. That gun is beautiful. A very fitting use of spare parts  .

2. I hope the owner choses to shoot this one a lot.

Great work and a truthfully classy result.

JT,

I've been following your work for sometime now. This example is very nice. I especially like the touch of Nitre bluing on the trigger and pins.
