I have a question that I hope is not too stupid. I Know 1911s(single stack) come in steel and aluminum frames. All the polymer ones I have seen are doublestack. I have never seen a single column 1911 in a polymer frame. If so, where? If not, why not?

I was a bit disappointed to read a preview of it - the frame is measurably thicker in various ways, so there seems to be little advantage over conventional metal frames.

Except of course that polymer is lighter than steel.

Nevertheless they need to get these to market whilst the iron of curiosity remains reasonably hot.

Lighter, and many parts interchange, but holsters will be hard to come by - holster-makers won't be able to get a mold.

If it had the same dimensions as an all-metal gun, I'd be much more interested. Not enough of an advantage over a LW frame Govt. model currently available, IMHO.
