In the past month or so, I traded a couple rifles off for pistols. I ended up with HiPowers built by Karl Sokol, Richard Heinie, and Ted Yost. I've been a 1911 guy forever, but until now, I didn't know what I was missing. I thought about selling Ted's one, but I think I'll end up keeping all three.

Here's a few pics of the Heinie and Yost SRT:

That heinie is particularly nice. I wish I could find a nice HP with checkering like that.

It feels great with the extended beavertail. Both pistols are beautiful in their own way

I like the checkering on the Heinie and the safety Yost uses. Are the two HI Powers Belgium?

There's a lot to like about a nice HP !

It warms me up to see two such nice examples. Both look like masterpieces, but I especially like the Yost.

I had mine built be Novak's back in '95 and it was money well spent, made better by the fantastic Garrity Leather Incognito IWB holster it resides in.

It's ironic that it is what I chose to carry this morning...

Most of the checkered Hi Power's I have seen were Belgium/Portugal. I thought the grips straps were too thin on the all Belgium.

Not to thin to do, but too thin to do wrong and go back and correct it.

You get one chance, and that's it.

It's getting reblued right now. I didn't like the spray/bake finish very much. I'll have it in hand in a week or two

Those are really nice. I love that Yost Hi-Power.

Since I don't have any Hi-Powers I might have to rent one next time I hit the range.....

I've had a Yost SRT Hi-Power (built on a T serial numbered Belgian Hi-Power) for 5 yrs now. Probably the most naturally pointing, deadly accurate hand guns I own. A true work of art!

Fortune to have the best of both worlds on this Heirloom HP I picked up just before Christmas.

Wow, nice BHPs! I may get flamed for this, but for my hands, it is one of the most naturally pointable pistols I have ever used. I'm currently saving my pennies for a Karl Sokol build. Do you have more pictures of his work you could post?

Between all the customs that you have, would you mind writing a bit about what is unique to each smith? If you were assembling your dream team EDC build, which smith and which components would you use? Lastly, how do you like the Garthwaite trigger and how does it compare to the C&S wide trigger?

Thanks!!

Yeah, I'm actually curios as to which trigger you prefer out of the 3 as well.
