I swear I think it takes me longer to photograph, edit, crop, clean, resize and post pictures of guns than it took me to build it to begin with! Maybe it's just that I enjoy the 'smithing aspect so much that the time flies by pretty fast. :)

Here are some pictures of the pistol that Chuck Warner of Elite Warrior Armament and myself have built to be raffled off with the proceeds going to benefit Dave Berryhill. The drawing will be conducted on MAY 30th, 2015, so you've only got a short amount of time to go buy the winning ticket.

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.gunsforacause.org/raffle/

Now for some pix -

Good show lads, my hat's off to you and Chuck Warner. And best wishes to Dave Berryhill for a speedy and full recovery-- I have always found him a darned nice guy and a top hand with the 1911.

Just got mine-- had some trouble in my first attempt some time ago, I think there are some features of that site that don't show up on my monitor. So if anyone else is using a 1963 Magnavox, immediately under the top picture of the pistol are lines saying "1 ticket, $10, 2 tickets, $20", etc. Those are links that'll take you to the purchase page.

Dave built the pistol I now carry on duty.

He's a super-nice guy and his work is impeccable. I just bought my raffle tickets.

Here's to a full and speedy recovery my friend!

Great looking gun.

Just don't do what I did. Buy the tix, forget about it, then panic when an unknown charge shows up on the CC.

Stunning work as usual.

Is that a carbon slide on a stainless frame?

I am building a few 1911s one is all stainless, and one will be stainless slide over a blue frame. I see so many references to galling yet I see many stainless and blue and all stainless pistols on the market.

Is there some secret to preventing the galling? My Springfield TRP in all stainless ingested 1000's of rounds with no issues.

This forum is so amazing. I will never be able to build anything as good looking as I see here, but it beats a 3-5 years waiting list. LOL

I bought tickets and told friends about this raffle, they have bought some as well. Even though John's and Chuck's work is awesome and I would love to have this gun, I would rather Mr. Berryhill regain his full health and not having to struggle against the horrible sickness.

Chuck Warner posted this sad news today:

Dave Berryhill passed quietly at his home sunday morning. He lost a hard fought battle with Cancer. He was attended by his wife throughout.

The following is the Obituary his wife has allowed me to post here.

"David Wayne Berryhill aged 54 of Prosper, Texas passed away Sunday May 10, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dave was born May 26, 1960 in West Covina, CA to William and Joan Reina Berryhill.
He is survived by his wife Lesa Mitchell Berryhill also of Proser and stepdaughter Carmen Hanney of Austin, TX . Dave is also survived by a sister Becky Steinfeld and brother Arley Berryhill both of Albuquerque, NM, and his two Dachshund daughters Greta and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Debra Berryhill. Dave was a retired officer with the Redondo Beach CA Police Force. Dave was a gunsmith and owner of Berryhill Customs LLC, he was well known for his work with 1911's. Dave's gentle disposition and loving smile will be missed."

For those customers that had projects with Dave, please contact me.

Just read about it. Damned shame, RIP Dave.

Might not be exactly the right time but is it ever, to say to John Harrison and Chuck Warner, you guys are just the best for doing this.

Just putting this one BTT as there is just over a week left. John's original post had the wrong drawing date, I corrected that, it is MAY 30th.

Get 'em while you can, this is from the site:

To be eligible, mail-in requests for these fee entries must be received by mail, no later than the 29th of May, 2015. Only one free ticket per household, via written request, is available. Free tickets must be requested in writing and may not be requested through the internet. Internet donations may be submitted until 6:00 PM (Pacific) on the 29th of May, 2015.

And the site again:

https://www.gunsforacause.org/raffle/

Ten bucks a crack? How could you not?

In a way I hope I don't get it because of my association with John Harrison and how it might appear to some.

Although, reading the description of the way the drawing is done-- very random. Even ticket numbers were distributed out of sequence.

But given the ceiling of 4,000 tickets..... anything could happen. And if I DO win it......

It's going up for sale immediately with the proceeds going directly to Dave's family.

Good on you, Ned! But I just checked the raffle website, and it looks like the raffle is extended until the end of July?

Ned,

That is a great gesture and a wonderful idea. I do hope that the winner would do this as well.

It does look to have been extended, good! I'm patient and it'll give more folks a chance.

And it gives us all more opportunity to get the word out.

Other than the selective service lottery in 1969, I never won anything. I did buy a couple tickets.
It's a nice pistol and a worthy cause.
