Nice holster!

Does anyone make a good snap belt slide holster for easier on-off capability?

Ya gotta love basketweave. My first duty rig was a full leather basketweave set up that is still being stored in a pillowcase. Perfectly shined and hopefully will maintain it's appearance. Great looking holster and guns.

That's it. It's a paddle holster with the snap loop in the back for better retention going under and over your belt. Takes about a second to take off and maybe 5 seconds to put on. I wear it with a fairly snug belt/pants as you can see with my gut hanging over, and have no problem with it flopping around. I think there are several guys, including Alessi who make holsters with 2 belt/snap loops, but I like the way this one feels with the paddle. It was made by Jerry Haugen. He doesn't have it on his webpage, but made it for me anyway. The closest thing to it on his webpage, I think, is the "Agent" paddle holster for a semi-auto. Kramer makes one called the "MSP" model, or "Michigan State Police", but I liked this one better. He charged me $20.00 extra for the basketweave, and the lining was free.

Thanks...I love that .44 Mag, although the .45 LC is much lighter!!

These holsters are hand sewn by a friend down in Kentucky. They are very unique.

M.Hall,
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take any pics before I sent it to you.

Ahhhhh, but fortunately Mark, I did! I don't have a photo site, but I'll
be putting the 35mm pics on a CD and can e-mail them to whoever
would like to see Mark's very nice and comfortable work. I've been
wearing the rig all weekend, and other than the stiff leather belt-which
will be nice when it breaks in, I don't even feel the boat anchor on my
hip! I've had many compliments on it already! Once again Mark,
thanks very much!!

Look back up the thread and find my post under Gary Morris. All the holsters I have shown were made by David. Matter of fact I just got one for a 681PC todat.

Ok, bringing this one back from the dead:

Any good CCW holsters for concealment (like IWB)? Lou, anything in the stable or is a shoulder holster the only solution?

Hoser...alot will depend on your barrel length and body type. I had an incredibly nice rig for my S&W Mountain Gun in .45 Colt (identical to the one in the first photo), that I originally bought to use in the woods when I had a large spred, but found that it was very comfortable and practical for concealed carry. It was a strong side/cross draw combination made by Backwood Leather in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was as well made as any holster I have ever owned, and I was turned onto Backwoods by an "operator" from the area who said that Backwoods makes holsters for a lot of the NSW guys at Little Creek....I can understand why after owning one!!

I use a pair of Kramer horsehide for a Lew Horton 657 - one IWB and a matching OWB and a dump pouch. I'd say the leather is very much in the Bruce Nelson tradition and holds and aligns the revolver properly to suit me - YMMV and there is room for variation in moving the bulk of the cylinder up and down and around.

I very much like to have matching IWB and OWB and the Kramer are good enough - boned for a fluted cylinder which my revolver is not and for a full 3" barrel which again the Lew Horton limited run with flat sides on the barrel is just shy of but good enough. The Kramer multiple size belt loops on the IWB are again good enough but my preference is for sewn loops - GWH style - that fit the belt tightly (and have no snaps to draw the eye). The Kramer mahogany color horsehide is very attractive to my eye.

I bought these 2 matching (but at different times - the first was good enough for me to buy the match) for immediate delivery shipping from stock - I wouldn't normally wait in line for a Kramer holster the way I would from some of the makers on this board - and in my opinion these from Kramer are a step down in stitching and edge and such from anything from Lou Alessi say - who IMHO makes the very best belt and holster combinations for concealed carry when it really matters.

On the other hand, though I'd buy one of Lou's Chic Gaylord derived swivel shoulder holsters in a flash - or as fast as I could get delivery - to carry a longer barrel on an N frame in the woods I mostly rely on a shoot me first vest for a cover garment and it wouldn't help concealment if folks I met were all wondering why I changed my dress.

I'm reluctant to carry an N frame when and where concealment matters - although I long ago carried a Model 58 as my only carry and into some places it would have been beyond annoying to be made - it was in winter clothing (reminds me of Mas Ayoob carrying a 9mm in the summer and a .45 in the New England winters when there might be more clothing to clog the 9mm hollow point) No question the N frame will range anything else I'd carry and anything short of Dirty Harry's Automag so it fills a purpose.
