Earlier this month, I posted pics of the GI I worked on for my first DIY project.

http://www.louderthanwords.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=876

After some more shooting, I decided I wanted to fiddle some more.

Changed out the sear for an EGW, added an Ed Brown disconnector, added a Ed Brown safety, bobbed the hammer, reshaped the tang of the grip safety, and did a mild melt. It doesn't show up well in the pictures, but if you run your hand over the gun it flows smoothly.

After all this, I had a bunch of mismatched parts and lots of bare metal from filing and sanding. Off it went to Mac's Shootin Irons for Gun Kote over parkerizing.

I also added a leash to the SA msh. I've left enough toys in the desert over the years that I didn't want to add this pistol to the sacrifices given to the Gods of the sand dunes.

Mac was quick and very nice to deal with. I think it makes for a very functional pistol.

Beautiful GI, getting my Operator GunKoated over parkerizing too. Hopefully I'll be getting it back within a month or two... :D

My Operator is at Bob Rodgers for some more work and his refinisher will take about 2-3 weeks depending on workload. That is why I'm looking at a couple of months before getting it back. Stan

Went to the range today. Only got to shoot 21' and 50', but with a few boxes of Hornady TAP I had laying around, I was getting tea cup size groups of 7 which for me is decent.

60 rounds of TAP and 400 other rounds of assorted plinker ammo later, it looks like everything's going to be OK. :)

Looking forward to pictures of your Operator. There was a neat GI posted here recently tha Chuck Rogers and Bob Rogers double teamed. That pistol kicked me over the top on choices of finish for this one.

Keep at it. It looks to me you really enjoy and understand what is going on there. Congrats.
