I recently acquired another Series I Kimber.

Although the intention was to leave this one stock, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

My question is:

Can the Kimber's rear sight dove tail be recut to the Heinie sight cut?

I prefer the way the Heinie sight cut lines up with the top of the hammer at the rear of the slide, as apposed to the gap left by the Novak and Kimber sight cuts.

I'd like to put some Yost Professional grade Sights on this pistol, and when I do I'd like them to be in the Heinie sight cut, I'm just not sure if this is possible with the current cuts already on my slide.

Do any of you out there know if this is possible?

Thanks in advance.

Heinie make Kimber specific sights that drops in with very little fitting.

Short of some serious dovetail filling there’s really no way to change the sight cut from Kimber, sorry. But there is good news... there will be a Pro-Grade sight for the Kimber cut available from YoBo in the near future.

Thanks guys I thought I might be wishful thinking.

Jason thanks for the news.

I'll look forward to getting a pro-grade rear for this gun. I'll just have to settle for the kimber sight cut.

Thanks again.

The only thing that you can do with the Kimber fixed rear sight cut is re-machine it for a Bo-Mar BMCS. Any other popular rear sight would require welding.
