I received my Alessi Sharkskin rig last week and I am awed by the craftsmanship and quality. I went full-boat on this rig and ordered a tapered belt made of bull shark skin and a solid silver buckle and tip. Lou Alessi only uses the best quality shark skin hides. He pays a substantial premium to get extra long hides so he can fashion his belts out of one single piece of shark skin. Other leathersmiths are content to fashion their belts out of multiple pieces or scraps of shark skin to save money. Not so with Lou; he cuts no corners and his final product reflects his lofty goals of superlative excellence.

His holsters are also made with the same unparalleled craftsmanship. My 1911 holsters with a resounding and satisfying click. It is extremely comfortable to wear, holds the gun tight to the body, and conceals very nicely. As asthetically pleasing as these holsters are, it is almost a shame to conceal them.

If you need to carry a gun into harms way, you owe it to yourself to give Lou Alessi a call. I had a nice conversation with Lou today to let him know my rig arrived safely and of my extreme satisifaction with his craftsmanship. Lou was excited about my rig and expressed genuine concern that I was happy with his work. Lou Alessi is a true Master Leathersmith, Artisan, and Gentleman. Thanks for your fine workmanship Lou!

Now, that is truly beautiful.
I am truly envious.

I love sharkskin's look.
The practical side of me says: Why have a prettied-up concealment holster/rig? But I can't help it.

That's pretty impressive that Mr. Alessi gets the long sharkskin for these purposes. That has to sting.
Just another piece of the puzzle, though.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. But then again, that's no surprise, is it.

Are you sure about that, John? I heard rumor that he just puts on a snorkle and swims out till he finds the meanest shark he can, then skins it right there on the spot.

Barehanded.

At least that's the rumor......

Now c'mon Tim... barehanded? :? I think Lou actually uses a vintage Schrade folder... at least that's what I was told.

Tim's close in the way I get those sharks.. I buy the skins, throw them in my pool, and then dive in and wrestle them with our chocolate lab.. SHe's at one end, and me at the other end..and we play tug- a- war.
That's how they get so long!
Thanks for all the kind words gentlemen!
Lou

Hey Lou,

Do you make your famous thongs in sharkskin also? I bet we could get Lew to order one, although I don't think that I really want to see him in one at the shop.

Ray, If you're willing to measure Lew, while Ted, Steve, and four of your neighbors hold him down, then I'll make the thong!

I've seen Bailey's, Del Pinto's, and Downing's - All I can say is...

Those belts!! They're all so LARGE! Don't you make anything to fit normal people? You're killin' way too many sharks.

Ted, Bailey refers to himself as 'Man Sized', but we do make belts for undernourished people too!

I love ya Lou, ten more pounds and Ted will have a 30" waist. I should be nice, anorexia in grown males is rare but still a sensitive topic. :P :P :P

Going through my mental list of all superlatives known to man, I have been unable to find one that is adequate.

I'm gonna hafta go with, "ZOIKS!"

If I put my nose real close to the screen I think I can smell that fine leather. If I run into anyone from the forum in the next few days and you notice a flat spot on my nose, don't ask.

Running out to my stash of Alessi leather Ziplocked since new to get a fix.

Hey Lou - Don't forget to add the real sharp and pointy dog collar spikes to his thong!

That is a gorgeous rig John, looks like just what I need for the gun I just got back from Steve :) How long a wait does Lou have these days ~ anyone know?

Best to contact Uncle Lou himself. Uncle Lou quoted me 8 months for my rig, but since I am 1/2 Italian, he made accomodations for me and got it to me in 6.

I'd love to have a shark skin rig. can I got to top of list Lou? My parents were born in Italy. Had to get my last on for Lightning Arms.
