I'm sure glad you bought that 629. I wanted it, but was having a heck of a time convincing myself that I NEEDED it! Your buying it allowed me to buy a gun I have been looking for since 1984....a nearly pristine 4" model 24 S&W .44 Special. See? You did a good deed and didn't even know it!

You can go to the link below and view my pics, if for some reason it doesn't take you directly to my gallery you can search under my username.

http://www.hunt101.com/showgallery.php? ... 59&cat=500

They are hosted at the link above, I don't know what to tell you if get x's there.

Maybe clear your temporary internet files?

Sweet, I didn't need it either but I couldn't pass it up. Finding a revolver that has had a real action job, this thing is very smooth, was just too much for me and I couldn't pass it up.

I hate giving up a gun to gunsmith for work, I always feel out of sorts while it's gone.

Hey Do you guys think my M637 38spl Mountain Gun will help me out much with this street gang I ran acrossed.

Trusty revolver

I figure I get 5 shots with the M637 so that leaves one for me if the other four don't work on the gang!!!!!

It's a good thing that revolver has a shaved down front site.

If one of those bears swallows you, hang on to the revolver and try shooting him in the heart as you pass by

I haven't had a chance to shoot any pics of my new 4" model 24, but here are a few pics of the 4" model 66 that Dave Berryhill spruced up for me.

Image

Image

This was kind of a strange "transition" S&W because it has the frame-mounted firing pin, but it had a forged hammer and trigger. I bought it at an indoor range where it had been used as a rental gun. Needless to say, it had been shot a lot. The action was pretty good when I bought it, but with a little polishing in the right places and a Wilson spring kit, it is now VERY good. When I got it, it had no barrel markings on it what so ever...no caliber markings, no "Smith & Wesson"...nada. When I sent it to Dave, my instructions were pretty simple. I wanted a "black powder bevel" on the front of the cylinder like a Mountain Gun, a fine, bead blast finish and I wanted him to clean up the timing, which was just a touch off. When it came back, miracle of miracles, it now had barrel markings!
Image

Evidently, the barrel markings were laser etched and someone at the rental counter got bored one day and polished them off. The fine bead blast Dave used brough them back to the surface.

The grips that are on the gun in the picture are Spegal Boot Grips. Those were recently replaced by yet another set of Spegals, but these are full sized round butt conversion grips.

I’d really love to see that 3-inch moon-clip gun when you get it done.

That bevel and bead blast look fantastic. I did not know that there are smiths out there to do the bevel work.

It's actually fairly common, but you normally see it on custom single action revolvers. Jim Stroh, Dave Clements and Hamilton Bowen all offer it as a regular option, and it isn't a very expensive modification. I have always liked it, and think it adds a touch of class.

Here's one Dave Clements did on a custom .44 Special Ruger Old Model.

Ceraguard and an action job, it is now my daily carry piece.

The 66-2 is getting sent to Gemini Customs next month.

OK, I'll throw up my favorite Smith, a M29-2 with a barrel swap under warrantee by the factory in '93.

Hello
I recently added a Modern S&W Wheelgun called a "Mountain Gun". I have been searching for the 4" model 25-5 for a long time, and could not locate one in my area. I settled for this Mountain Gun, and it is the Only modern Vintage style S&W revolver I have. I must say, after handeling it, and shooting it, that S&W did well on using Old School Ideas placing them into the Modern revolvers. The Bluing is some of the nicest I have seen in over 20 Years from S&W. They also Case Colored the new MIM CNC manufactured hammer and trigger. I swapped out the rather small Ahrends grip's that came on it to the Factory Target conversion grips shown. It makes this short barreled big bore revolver shoot with Little recoil, and gives a better hold while shooting Targets. Regards, Kurt.

Pardn my bad photography, as the guns are offended at my lack of picture taking skills.

Image

Image

27-2, 3.5" bbl, factory everything, original and serialed grips.

Image

Model 29 - no dash - never going to do a thing to it...

Image

This is a custom - Model 25-12 PC, which is a "heritage" that came with a 5 or 5.5" bbl. Original owner sent it back to the Performance center, had a 4" bbl from the TRS guns put on, and an action job. Exceptionally accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

Image

Image

Another PC gun, the 681 Birdsong PC - 3", 7 shot, .357 magnum, fixed sights, great gun. Trigger actually sucked when I got it, but dry firing it 5000 times slicked it right up.

Sees carry duty on a regular basis in a Sparks VM2.

Image

Image

Ruger GP100 "Special Edition" - i.e. 1 of 500 they did as a 5" bbl. My "working gun" when on the family ranch. Full action job, chamfered cyls, etc. Holster is a Milt Sparks AW200, before I put the "right" grips on there.

Dave Weigand Custom 629-5. Too bad he's still not building, and too bad, with old eyes, that I can't come close to shooting this beauty to its potential! Regards, SRT
