Congratulations Matt. That "heater" will certainly keep you warm :D

Is it getting a new holster or are you stuffing it in an "old friend"?

Either case, we need to see pictures!

And Ray, nice work, as always.
Okay Chip....Here ya go! I had a sort of retro urge going this weekend so I made this belt holster in brown hardrolled horsehide. It had the kind of flavor of a holster type from 30 or 40 (or more) years ago but with an improved stability on the belt.

Thanks CJ. That question gets asked alot. I always thought it was kinda like asking how to drive your car without wearing the tires. Friction is. However, much of the wear on a pistol can be the result of a poorly fitted holster. Since the gun is in the holster much more than you draw and re-holster it's the wiggling around in a loose holster that will do much of the damage to finish. If the holster is snug the nearly all the finish wear you get is from sliding the gun in an out of the holster. Generally, having smooth leather next to the gun will wear the finish more slowly. The downside of lining a concealment holster with smooth leather is it can make the holster thicker. That's why I like building roughout holster for guys concerned about finish wear. Plus the outside of the holster, while not as asthetically pleasing, takes a lot of abuse without showing it and is uh..."tactically dull" :D

You rock, thanks for the good answers.

BTW, if you ever want to avoid wearing the tires on your car, drive someone elses. I guess the same goes for guns.

thanks again
CJ

Matt-

That's a beaut!! I'm not quite sure what the inspiration was, but you were certainly inspired. Thanks for sharing it. (Nice pics, too.)

Absolutely beautiful Colt, Ray. One question though: Was it the UPS man or the holster maker who added the ambi safety???

That was me, because the holster maker is a lefty.

It was added after the first pictures were taken, just before sending it to Matt.
