Just picked it up over the weekend...... and I can use a little help on this one.

Colt Combat Commander Pre 80 series with all the 70 series features ( no firing pin block/sear disc) and 70 series roll marks

BUT..... it does have a 80 prefix and a four digit serial number

Anyone know the number on transition guns out? It's heading to the bench of one of the smiths here at LTW soon :D

Gary, Your Combat Commander was made in 1980. I've seen a number of Commanders serial numbered like this one, and perhaps they decided at the factory to start with '80' serial numbers since the '70's were gone, but hadn't decided on the FP safety as of yet. Don't really know, and perhaps some Colt historian can tell us. Best,
