I have had this one on the back burner for several months. Just got some time in the shop to work on one of my pieces this weekend. This one is
Caspian carbon steel frame and slide, 1911A1 specs
Stormlake Match barrel
EGW match bushing
EGW sear, leaf spring and disconnect
EMC wide spur hammer
STI titanium hammer strut
Greider medium trigger (still might put a Colt steel trigger in if I can find one)
Yo-Bo retro rear sight
Ed Brown serrated black stake in front sight
USGI serrated arched MSH
USGI slide stop
USGI grip safety
Premium Double Diamond Cocobolo Grip Panels
Matte blue frame and 320 polished slide flats for that "USGI" look on the polish.

Mixed up a new brew of bluing salts. Also let this one cook longer in the soup. It turned out the most black/midnight blue that I have seen on one of my guns in a while. The pics just don't show the real deep black/blue with purple overtones that this has. Anyway, this one will be also getting one of the blue satin lined custom black aluminum gun cases to go with it when I get it done. Have a look. I think the bluing on this one turned out really nice. It should make for a real sleeper retro gun if someone is looking for that sort of thing. Or it just may find a permanent home in the safe, not sure yet. Please pardon the lint on the gun in the photos.

Jess

A nothing but business gun. Gotta love blued 1911's with what appears to be Cocobolo.

Sorry, yes the grips are cocobolo. Someone will be getting a beauty that is for sure. Like I said, unless I can't find it in the back of the safe

I love the blued guns with either cocobolo or walnut grips. I surely love Ted's 70 Colt's. I think the next one will be the Caspian 1911 retro with all of the older stuff except for the Yo-Bo retro sight and some sort of ramped front blade. I really like the Stormlake barrels. They fit nice and are real shooters.

Nice looking pistol Jess! I like the classic look. It comes together as a whole and looks great.
