I hate to see it go, but it went to a good home
The revolver came with rubber Pachmayrs made for a speed six, since at the time of the build there were no round butt N-frames!
Roy Fishpaw made those grips about 8 or 9 years ago, and they are unique. I let him use whatever wood he wanted (dozens to choose from) and my only guidance were that I wanted a somewhat compact grip to complement its lines, and I wanted them cut for speedloader clearance. He seemed to think that that was an odd request, but he did it and this was the result. I dont think I've have seen him make a set quite like these, and he is truly the craftsman that he articles show him to be.
The revolver is a classic and I was happy that it was a .45 Colt rather than the more common .44 mag. It has the oversized cylinder throats of the era, and thusly shoots best with slighlty oversize cast bullets. The action is the slickest N-frame I have ever shot, much like the well tuned PPC triggers Behlert was known for. There is a single ball crane-lock as well as a allen head set screw on the lower right of the grip frame, to secure the mainspring screw at whatever setting you "dial down" the trigger to! Very cool features. I never got around to posting pics of this revolver, and Im glad that Gary has given it the attention it deserves.
